Today's vlog: A Laid back day of Sailing on the Red Sea! The forecast is different then we see happening, but we decide to leave anyway. The result is a funny, slow and relaxed day of sailing.
On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :)
This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. We got the sailing- skills on our friends yacht 'Shalom' when we joined them on a trip from the Netherlands to Spain. / @sailingshalom . In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met. We cooperated with OM to visit their projects and film them on our way. Since 19 of March we started with a daily vlog due to the corona situation. We plan to keep doing this the coming months.

Yeah its almost everyday 30 degrees and blue sky, perfect! Today it felt really hot, but with the water always close that's no problem :) is it still cold there?

How long do you need to stay at the boatyard? Are you still working or just waiting to get permission to get back in?

@@sailingmessenger8125 They are saying we can sail on the 18th, but that could all change. We aren't sure whether to go back in the water and risk being at anchor for another lockdown, or stay getting on with the huge list of boat jobs we have and make the most of giving this very old, neglected boat some real love!?

Ah sounds like you tend to go for the second option.. When this is the situation it could be a good time to work on that list :) we thought we would use this time also to do some jobs that are waiting for a long time... But somehow it doesn't happen 🤔😊

Really, it's 2:14 am in Austin TX. U.S. And I have been watching your videos since from 6 pm without switch over others' blogs. Yes am coming up here for the vacation to my sons' house, from India. Actually, I am passionate with the travelogue videos, especially the sea adventure clips, like what you. I born in the land, and that's why I don't know about the sea. It's the sea adventure of you gives me very very enthusiastic. In this clip I know about the wind speed monitor which I had never seen before. Thank you.

yes, people wise it very safe I think. we met the most helpfull fisherman and tour guides on boats. they brought us food, filled dive bottles, invited us for dinner on cruise ships etc. navigation os a little challenging, you need to prepare well and have different charts available to check. but then its really safe I think. and very very beautifull!!

It will grow again, no worries 😁 I don't have a shaver to trim it, so I can only shave it off completely. And then it grows again 😁 Or do you want me to grow a beard like Santa?

Kleine rectificatie als dat mag 😁 Feta is een van origine Grieks product en niet Egyptisch 😉

Weet je zeker dat er niet ook Egyptische feta bestaat? Het lijkt echt niet zo op Griekse feta, het is meer een soort zoutige roomkaas. Sommige merken hebben beetje die bobbelige structuur als Griekse feta, maar sommige ook helemaal niet..

@@sailingmessenger8125 het kan goed dat ze Egyptische namaak hebben, zo bestaat er ook een Deense variant. Het is alleen een beschermde naam, dus mag officieel nooit als Feta over de toonbank. Maar ik kan me voorstellen dat ze zich daar in Egypte niet zo druk om maken 😜
