We met a very beautiful sailing messenger family in Djibouti. It's a pity that we don't have time to share with them more, but I believe there will be time to be together again sometime in the future. Even at the airports, you are usually questioned very extensively which people are not used to. Who are you, where are you coming from, why are you here, are you Jewish, etc. It’s for security. I wasn’t aware of the extent that they went at the harbors, but I guess it makes sense. It would be the same as the airports. Great video.

An important note is that vessels from before 1984 do not have to pay BTW/VAT when they leave the EU for more then two years and come back to EU waters. Is it registered at the "kadaster" and do you have a "ZeeBrief" ? That would make it a lot easier to sell abroad, where the Dutch "Proof of Purchase" has not much legal value. Anyways, sad to see you leave the boat for good! I really enjoyed our time together! I hardly leave the dock in Rotterdam, due to lack of crew and having to little experience to go alone. If you are in need of a boat with skipper next summer let me know. (The next 8 weeks I am on the Hard)
