"I would have given him so much advice to turn this whole thing around. What you need to realize is that performing was his biggest anxiety, and so each and every single night he needed to face his biggest anxiety. That will get you at a certain point," - Laidback Luke told BPM

It all started for him on the Laidback Luke forum, i remeber being a fan when he used to leave comments on that forum, and the first track which got me hooked on Avicii's music is Ryu.. Rip legend.

Yeah i remember that he was on the forum, but didn't see his tracks at that time. (It's possible i did, but never realized.) I used to share stuff on the forum in 2009-10ish. Used to go by PlayButton. LOL

@d1234 Yeah I believe I rejoined the forum a year or two later after I changed my name to Tommie Rizzo. So it is quiet possible you seen me on there. But didn't end up posting to much.

As much as I respect Laidback Luke and know how much Avicii admired him, is he really best placed to offer advice on how Tim could have turned his life around? Avicii was a global superstar, whose music brought EDM to the mainstream and was phenomenally successful worldwide. Laidback Luke is an experienced music producer who can offer some insight into the stresses that come with being a touring DJ. Again, without meaning to disrespect LL, I don’t think he, like the vast majority of us, could ever really comprehend what dealing with Avicii-levels of fame would be like. In fact, the only DJs I can think of who possibly could are Calvin Harris and David Guetta. Both of whom, I believe, not only have more extroverted personalities than Tim, but were also eased into fame on a small scale first, before later going global. They’d have also been older when ‘making it big’. Tim was pretty much an overnight European success in his late teens. Personally I believe that he devoted so much time to the music and the Avicii brand, that when he finally decided to slow down and stop touring, he’d kind of forgotten who Tim was. That hectic lifestyle of constant touring and shows every night, whilst being under pressure to produce new music had for years gotten in the way. Simply put, Avicii had taken over from Tim. When that crazy Avicii machine slowed down, what was left was a bit of a lost soul.

Wow, I 100% agree with you. Because in his documentary Avicii said that when he retired from touring and went back home, he didn't feel like at home anymore. So I get what you're saying that this lifestyle of a touring DJ, with his level of fame, took everything out of the person he was at the beginning of his career, this energetic kid who enjoyed what he did for a living. I think that when he went on tour he felt trapped in a world he didn't want to be in anymore and that affected his mindset. Mentally he couldn't deal with stress he got before every show and with the pressure of constantly putting out amazing songs for us fans. Maybe I'm wrong but he should've slowed down with the touring years ago (I mean acute pancreatitis is very serious and a sign your doing things the wrong way) and focus only on what he loved the most which is producing music . He might've still be here with us today.

Also Martin Garrix maybe? He got famous at an age even younger than Tim and he seems to be doing fine but again Garrix also seems to be much more of an extrovert and easy going on stage in general. I think Avicii never really got out of the stress even without touring he probably constantly stressed out when thinking about his future in the music industry cause one day he would have to perform again in some form. I‘ve seen many of his interviews and he said that even after stopping for almost half a year in 2015 to 2016 and exercising a lot and producing music in the studio, the first minute of his first show he took in 2016 everything came right back at him , the anxiety, the stress, the panic. A psychological disorder is very difficult to resolve if it sits as deep as it did with Tim. Also his father suggested Tim already had some minor psychological trouble in his teenage before he even got into Producing, so that‘s a very suboptimal situation, combined with his extremely introvert attitude thrown onto the world stage it was a devil‘s mix.

We need to rebuild the music industry in the sense of restoring musicians ability to make a profit off of record sales...many musicians do well but almost all that money comes from running themselves ragged on the road playing the same tracks over and over when many of us would rather be in our home studios creating. I know thats what I feel and it sounds like avicii did as well. I know theres some legislation being considered in the senate right now and it might be worth it for those of you who want to help to call your senators and let them know you support the music modernization act...theres many reasons why music sales are shit but one big piece of the puzzle is the antiquated system that regulates music licensing...It would be nice to be able to get paid for creating music without having to derive those profits from venues selling drinks...

true and hearing that skrillex did over 300 shows a year and even sometimes 2 shows a day makes me feel sick. Artists really need to be able to take their time off without people complaining. I wish his management wouldve gone easier on Tim :(

I would probably say that the management of his lifestyle and the way he was managed as money-machine made him down in the dirt.. Without it, he would have gone longer, but probably not as big :/

Jakob Wångö i agree but better alive then big and dead.He never was able to enjoy his money and success.I think was better for him to be just a normal swedish boy with a ordinary job then a big star .Be healthy and alive is the most important, money can't buy happiness.

Raluca To me, I can't imagine Tim making anything better than the melodies, it's truth, I wouldn't hear about Avicii in 2011 and ever before if not Le7els that wouldn't be sold without Ash, I mean I've heard of Seek Bromance way before, but couldn't connect Tim Berg song to Avicii alias until his passing even though I knew Avicii's name was Tim, I just think that menager/label shouldn't be your head nor 'a baby sitter', but a partner, every independent artist should be a self-employee, with a menager being your right hand, proposing you what other artists to collab with, how to improve your sound, how to get your music out there, managing people responsible for setting the show for you, as long as you, an artist are healthy, comfortable with it, and truly want it. What most of us remember him for wouldn't be so intense without menagment, but he wouldn't Be Gone if menagment cared about Tim's mental and physical health, not the Avicii brand, I've a feeling that if he more occasionally (twice a year, maybe) performed at the more attended shows: Ibiza, Tomorrowland, Ultra etc. and got to play for smaller audience most of the time, most likely Swedish, and got a chance to focus more on piano/gitar/computer software melody writing, producing in the studio, finding himself rether than Dj'ing, he would still be with us, Just don't say that he should have had an average life, and a regular job, he wanted to express him self, How Chris Martin said, better outside than inside, don't take it away from him, he still got remembered for the life he lived, not the money Ash made of Tim.

What is laidback luck joking or what, did he really wrote about avicii getting in the 27 club? THis while story is awkward, he did quite 2 years ago, he most have had his rest. We cant tell what is the cause of his death. This conversation sounds like they already made up that facts of what happened. They all sound more like acquaintance of each other. I mean he talks about last seeing him 2015. Close people know each other a bit better
