Have you been dreaming of visiting Lake O'Hara but have never been lucky enough to win the lottery? Finally got into the site but couldn't find those last few reservations in time? I've got a few tips on how to navigate the site, what to expect when you arrive, and a couple alternative ways to get there. Plan early. Reservations are required to take the bus to Lake O’Hara for day use and camping from mid-June to early October.
Lake O'Hara is a lake at an elevation of 2,020 metres (6,630 ft) in the alpine area of Yoho National Park, in the province of British Columbia, east of Banff National Park, mid-way between Lake Louise, Alberta and Field, B.C.
The area is known for its scenery as well as its alpine hiking. Lake O’Hara is a collection of exquisite lakes and hanging valleys linked by a well-marked and well-maintained trail network. It is one of the premier hiking destinations in the world and can be very difficult to visit without walking up and down the 11km service road. The number of people who access the area by bus has been limited in order to preserve the sensitive alpine environment.

Thank you for this great video about the reservation process. It helped us a lot and thanks to lottery luck, we were able to book some sites this morning, a task that I thought would be impossible.

@@PapaSteveOnTheMove Thank you! We have one reservation for 1 night and a second reservation for the next 2 nights. Given the challenging booking process, we couldn't get all 3 nights under the same reservation. Do you know if Parks Canada can combine the reservations?

@juliedo5243 Parks Canada can’t do much as the season is completely sold out. Let me know if you are not going to use the one single night!!! Have a great time. You’re one of the lucky ones.

Nice video...but it's pronounced O-hair-a. Was lucky to have worked there for several years when I was younger.

Great video with necessary information! I have one question about the booking campsite! What is the difference between party size and tent pads? I want to book for 4 people so Is 1 party size is enough for 4 people or not? Will be using only 1 tent for 4 people!

No problem with four people on one site however you must have a 4-person backcountry tent. Only one tent per site and a regular front country tent won’t fit in the pad.

Hi @thuang88 When you book your camp reservation you will request a morning or afternoon bus. Parks Canada will email you weeks before your reservation and inform you what time the bus has been reserved for you.

In 2024, don't we have to reserve the bus on the side even if we have booked the campsite?

You mention using multiple computers if you can, Can you be logged into your parks Canada account from more than one computer or device?

I use my home IP for one computer and tether another one to my cell phone. This way it is possible to log in twice.
