Frostproof Florida in southern Polk County is also a sleepy hidden gem that really hasn't taken off yet.Someday it will,has potential.The old Walesbilt Hotel in downtown Lake Wales has potential,hopefully one day it will be restored.

The industry has been on a decline. I would bet if it held strong the grove owners would not be selling to the developers like they have been.

Hi Francy! Auburndale is a good mixture of Winter Haven and Lakeland but on a smaller scale. There are definitely things to like and dislike. Send us and email and we can give you a solid breakdown Auburndale and surrounding areas!

The reason why the population is so low is because there no jobs in lake wales. The downtown is pretty run down and empty. I think Lake Wales is a very nice area. Its very Hilly! almost like Clermont or Tally. Ive almost thought about moving to Lake Wales, but job market no good.

Very true. We are seeing more distribution jobs but nothing that is really retaining local funds. I do see that downtown becoming special in the coming years. Much like Winter Haven
