Hi every one, here in the UK Crows and Magpies can cause devastating damage to the rare nesting birds we have on our moors for example Curlews, lapwings meadow pipits and many many more, they also predate on the song bird population ,also around lambing time the crows will peck out the eyes of the new born lambs while they are vulnerable just after birth and even at times while the Ewe is giving birth crows will peck out the eyes and tongues of a lamb, so as a pest controller our laws let us control them all year round, here i am using a 223 rifle as the crows and magpies can wise up avoiding traps and keeping out of range of air rifles and shotguns at times. Any disbelievers please feel free to google and see the damage for your self. cheers

I like watching your videos, particularly the black Lab! I do not live in the countryside, but like to listen and learn from someone who does. We have an urban fox visit us every night. We put some food out for her and only yesterday she brought her pup with her. My wife and I get a great deal of enjoyment from her visits. Now understand and appreciate the difference between our urban visitors and those foxes who have a negative impact on those people trying to make a living in the countryside. Cheers Simon.

Just bewildered how these days people cannot agree to disagree, be willing to listen to someone or something they may not like, and accept that they may be wrong and willing to change their mind! We live by a state forest here in Florida. Been living in the country ever since I was born. I have cats that have since moved outside of the house due to a new puppy that they dislike. Now I'm indirectly feeding a juvenile opossum alongside the cats when I set the cat food out. My city dwelling mother in law swears that it will give the kids rabies and I have declined her desire to murder it. I feel in due time it will just move along like its other two juvenile opossum siblings. Just one of the things of living out in the country.

@@AstanaxKnight Wow, where you live must be amazing, your children have all that space and freedom to play. The opportunity to see wildlife indirectly is such a privilege. This opportunity has certainly changed how we look at our world. The thing to remember is that these visitors will, at heart always be wild. We watch our visitor from a distance and thank God (and our visitor) for this opportunity. The opportunity that your children have now is very rare, they can share their daily lives. Many years ago some feral kittens lived in our garden. We fed them daily and gradually they become more accepting. I knew that these kittens would never have a close relationship with a person, unfortunately, my young son did not realise this, and her tried to pick up one of those kittens. The cat scratched his leg badly, when a cat scratches someone this, its claw will go directly into the skin and then retract out the same path. The kitten claw deposited some germs under my son's skin, the infection was very serious and lasted for many months. I made the mistake of not emphasizing to my children the need to respect the kittens space and that any closeness or contact must be instigated by the kitten. Forgive my boldness but your mother-in-law cannot understand the simple joy of sharing your life even if only temporary with a wild animal. Your life sounds amazing, health and happiness to you and your family. Sláinte

Well said!! I have permissions that produce Lambs and Eggs they do not like foxes being around. I also have a permission that used to to do farmhouse B&B and had 20+ free range hens to help with eggs for visitors breakfasts. They are retired from B&B now and no longer have hens and we have delighted in the past few years watching Ma & Pa fox watching over the cubs while they play. They are no threat to the cows and cattle so we leave them be. As you said we are not blood thirsty killers.

Nicely said my friend, we are, mostly, custodians of the countryside, and pest control is a necessary tool we use to keep the balance, as can obviously be seen by anyone who wishes to look, the birdlife on your permissions are a glowing example, unfortunately, many can't see past their prejudices to appreciate the benefits.........they would certainly notice the differences if they get their own way and stop us from providing this "free" service!

You raise a great point at the end of the video - even here in Australia, where foxes, cats and rabbits are all introduced species; for me its not about shooting them for fun either. So many city folks and tree huggers do not understand, that responsible shooters have been around, far longer than their carbon credit rubbish and who mostly want to ban the ownership of any guns. 🤔 Thank you for showing the real shooter. Awesome as always mate! If I’m honest I didn’t expect to see the friendly fox in the scope! The two Maggie’s definitely would have been chewing lead one of them was even trying to have a go at the fox,I know it’s nature but look at all the song birds eggs & chicks they have & that’s why I help nature out whenever one pops up in my cross hairs! Anyway outstanding pal as always, nice to see your buddy as well 👍keep them coming.

Another great video and great shooting / not shooting Simon, thanks for this. 👏 The Pulsar C50 looks an awesome scope, the scope we all hoped the Digex would be when it first appeared. I can't afford a C50 myself and for now am going to use my Discovery HD34 3-18x50 dayscope with a rear add-on, but am definitely considering getting a C50 for my 17HMR for rimfire use by day and night. Cheers. Russ

What a great video mate and the ending was just as good as the rest of it. Not only did you make a very valid point regarding pest control and why we do it, but unfortunately there are people that don't follow concept of pest control and it puts a black mark on everyone else. Glad to see Jack enjoying his creature comforts to. Roll on part 3 Simon ATB 👍
