The David attenborough of the car world

When you see some of the garbage that passes for car shows on TV why on earth does this guy not have his own TV series? No loud background music or fake deadlines to add fake suspense. I'm sick of all the fakery. I could watch Iain for hours. In fact, I'm convinced that Iain and Harry could make a series for adults that would be a smash hit with real car lovers all over the world.

No music, no special effects, no drama, just raw and wonderful, how refreshing. Thank you.

I love the respect between the boss and the employee. This is how all employees should be treated and the world would be a better place. Hats off!

I'm 28 years old, and, being the son of a mechanic, I am very, very fond of cars, classics in particular. Somebody referred to you as the David Attenborough of cars. Well, I think no other definition could suit you better, sir. I see tangible passion and knowledge, which, paired with your manners, make your content so enjoyable. It's what Mr. Tyrrell's videos don't contain that makes them so enjoyable, no music, no inane chatter, no trying to outdo other people, no video trickery, no fake dead lines. Extremely enjoyable to watch and listen to, honestly that 20 minutes just flew by.

My honestly respect for you and your colleagues working in that workshop. I was led by Mr.Metcalfe to your video channel . I instantly subscribetd . There are so many nice ,true and right comments made already that it seems hard to add something. I am 56 years old and if I would only be 20 years younger I would love to work for you Mr Tyrrel. I know that the work is hard ,dirty and full of risk to damage something on these old cars and even if you as the boss Mr Tyrrel get most of the profit(which obviously deserve) , BUT the work must be so satisfying . Just to be able to say that I did my part in these restaurations .........or even only repairs on other older cars. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to get the money from some clients , they may not all be wealthy . I wish you all the best Mr Tyrell and that you have a long satisfying life . Treat you employees very well ,cause they are part of your sucess . Looking forward to listen to your well pronouced explanations. Channels like this really are KZfaq gold, my only complaint is the videos aren’t long enough, I could watch this kind of thing for hours.

What an absolute classy pair of gents Ian and Harry are. Highly knowledgeable, entertaining , informative video’s, proper car blokes, not up themselves in the slightest . I have watched everyone one of Harry’s video’s and will no doubt watch all of Ian’s. Imagine a world with people having this old school charm that they both have 👍. Kudos .

Miura's are incredibly engineered, the ideas, the frame, the all in one cast engine, wow! No wonder you enjoy working on them, and discovering any hidden problems, this Miura in particular is in an exceptional state 😍

I am so glad you chose to use the Miura S for the subject of your first ( and hopefully many more ) video's . I have followed Lamborghini since i was a dreaming 11 year old with all the posters possible covering my bedroom walls. Bob Wallace was and still is a hero of mine , reading his stories always amazed and made me smile . Good luck with this channel i shall be watching as much as possible .

"They are only original once" So true... Our '58 356 has so many original bits, but I do morn the missing and poorly replaced parts an the car. It is such a joy when you come across an original part you can "upgrade" a non-original part with. Your knowledge, history, and understanding of these cars is a real treat along with your calming and attentive presentation. Very enjoyable to watch!

Hi Iain, as so many of us are saying this is a joy. Simple, steady paced with all your valuable observation and knowledge. We all know that you can only be in one place at a time but I for one I would love the see similar strip down and rebuild on other cars in the workshop. Ferrari and a V12 Jaguar too. We'll just have to keep watching! Lastly this Muira is extremely special being so original. It is tremendous to see cars of this originality where the factory quality markers are still present. It is also heartening to know these cars are attracting the respect and prices nut and bolt restorations only used to receive. There is another car like this on KZfaq a 1965 Jaguar E Type, LBI E Type takes you to it. This one is breathtaking too. All are mouthwatering films, Iain do keep it up. Thank you.

Great: A-Level Lamborghini. That's why I like Harry's Garage: he's a farmer who knows about mechanical machinery and cars and takes them to Jet Set Locations. Perhaps you could do other videos commenting about modern Ferrari; Lamborghini and Maserati models?

These videos are such a joy to watch. Please continue this series on the Italian exotics and especially this Miura as long as possible. I am loving every bit of it. All this knowledge and attention to detail that you have in your shop is such a relieve to witness. Having my childhood dream car being explained and shown in this way with all the historic references is just like nothing else. (This most definitely was what that overpaid trio on TG was missing in their heyday tv show. --Just a little rant) Keep up this lovely series!!!

My new favourite channel. Oh the pangs of regret I have when I think of all the wonderful Alfa's, Lancia's and FIAT's I had and let go throughout my 20's (95-05).

If I was the owner I would love the way the work on my car was being documented. This will be part of the future documentation of the car, it explains the choices better than the regular folder full of paperwork would.

Enjoying the series to date, as I did with the Espada rebuild prevously recorded with Harry. The finer detail of the processes undertaken along with the occasional tangent surrounding past experiences keep the videos natural and interesting. I came to this channel from Harry's Garage and his Espada Restoration, and I love both of your videos so far. With so much clap trap on KZfaq it is refreshing to see authentic, passionate, honest videos that dive into the details of an obscure and amazing artifact of human creativity and engineering. Tyrrell, I applaud you for having as much integrity in these videos as the people who designed and made the amazing machines you restore. Fascinating museum-quality preservation/restoration, Iain. I imagine there must be some agonising decisions to be made when it comes to replacing or keeping certain components on the car, although there must be some guidelines to follow, from the standards used in concourse judging contests. At the end of the day, if you look at it in terms of monetary value, there would be a premium placed on originality, especially with rare and important cars. Thank you for sharing your passion to a wider audience.

What a great way to start your own you tube channel, taking apart and restoring a Muira. I just love it when someone is engaging and so knowledgeable about thier passion. Keep the videos coming, either car by car restoration or a little bit about 2 cars in each video. Ultimate detail from the master himself. I’ve said this before but this channel is my number one to watch in 2020. So refreshing to see another master at work instead of the normal dross. Loved the episode.

I live and work in engineering with engineers, this is the real deal which I would encourage youngsters to aspire to. Please keep the films coming.

The Miura is one of my all time favorite cars. There isn't a bad angle to view it from.

As with all things historic and rare there are only a few folk who REALLY know their trade. They are always a joy to listen to and it matters not what subject is chosen, they captivate their audience. I love cars and I have certainly had a few classics over the 50 plus years. Most of the ones I see on here were beyond my reach, but I do wish I had purchased a battered old Espada brush painted with pure 60s psychodelia!!! The level of knowledge is second to none and no doubt just as deep on the other marques and models that come through his garage. Any apprentice who gets time there is very, very lucky (me please !). If you had the money, that appears to be the place to go to get work done on something exotic and expensive.

Thank you for starting this channel, I'm always interested in classic cars and vintage supercars, more than the modern stuff in fact , ever since I saw a Ferrari Dino being restored in bare metal in around 2003 , the chap in the bodyshop explained to me how these cars were " lead loaded" at the factory , which as you know is an art in itself , Absolutely fascinating and I have been hooked ever since . This channel is what youtube is made for and thanks to Harry for the push. !!

The previous comments say it all a totally, totally engrossing channel. I'm hooked and looking forward to seeing the restoration process progress with this time capsule car. Its interesting how the priorities of restoration have changed. Back in the early 90's it would be the done thing to strip this car back to bare metal and fibreglass and rebuild it to better than new condition, but now it is all about keeping the originality and the history of the car. I'm pleased about this as I have a fairly original 65 Mustang that has quite a bit of patina because I love driving it so much, even after years of ownership. I couldn't own a concours one as I'd be too afraid to take it out of the garage.

Hands down the best car videos, restorer anywhere. As people have said, no fakery just facts and explanations from someone who clearly knows the subject and can actually do it. Iain is the owner/manager I assume but how wonderful to work for this guy who as I said can walk the walk and I hope appreciates his staff and their skills and dedication. I wonder if monday mornings for his employees are easy as it must be a joy to work for him.

Great to see the inside story of such a fantastic workshop in the U.K., the Miura story and the true appreciation of it's originality strikes a chord with me. 100 point concourse cars are wonderful in their own way but nothing beats original if it can be saved, sadly too much emphasis seems to be placed on making cars "better than new" at restoration time. Just my opinion of course!
