@@thomasraines1396 The alternate reality in "Apocalypse" showed how Milton Fine would have manipulated everyone without Clark around. The point of the whole episode was pointing out that one person has a profound affect on those around them. Clark's friendship with Lex through the first couple seasons was helping Lex become a better person. He had finally found a friend who didn't treat him like he was born evil. When Clark started treating Lex like everyone else did, it broke him. Lex lost all hope of ever being treated like a good person if even his only friend could never believe he was good. Let alone then finding out that "best friend" whom he had killed to protect, let Lex be kidnapped and locked away in an asylum where he had his brains scrambled.

@CC_11 True that's how they always billed it, but rewatching the show I noticed that in season 5 is where they start going at odds with each other. Season 6 kinda drove the nail in further with the whole Lana and Lex relationship, and then in season 7 it was topped off by Lionel's death. At least that's how I see it.

If you didnt know they were suppose to create a season 11 but they cancelled it and made it into a comic book form. In season 11 they basically confirm that lois was fated to be with clark from the beginning, not lana. Lana also returns in the season 11 comic.

I've witnessed this behavior from both genders in my own life. There's actually a John Lennon song called 'Jealous Guy' about how he felt towards his ex-wife getting remarried even after he dumped her for Yoko Ono. (spoiler alert John Lennon was a complete asshole in his personal life)

Not true. Lana gets jealous at times yes, but not unreasonably so. Clark is jealous of her other relationships way more than she is of his. Aside from this brief relationship with Chloe and another brief relationship with Alicia- Clark doesn’t really date any other women while Lana is on the show.

They were both jealous at different times,but mostly did the right thing. Clark really should have put his foot down a few times. He needed to be a little more Red K Clark. Lana was actually there for Clark more than Chloe, she herself even told Clark that her life didn't revolve around Clark. Lana world did and Witney didn't mean much to her anyways that's why she was willing to leave him anyday if Clark said the word. She stayed in Smallville because of Clark, been to his loft multiple times in her choice and saved Clark's father from staying in prison for any longer. I'd say she did derseve him more than Chloe but ultimately Clark didn't deserve her if were talking about the endgame. Clark's immaturity and Paranoia kept breaking Lana's heart and made her do a lot of messed up things when she probably thought Clark was just playing games with her confused state. Those two were born to protect each other not be with each other.

@@knandez7__821 I think you confused a lot of what I said. trying to get someone to notice you like them isn't having your world revolve around them. also don't care if Whitney meant the world to Lana or not, she is still with him and therefore unavailable and assuming Clark is going to roll up and ask her to leave Whitney for him demonstrates that she doesn't know the type of person Clark is. I know it may sound romantic that she would leave Clark because "loves" him but if she truly did then she would do it of her own accord. She would make herself available. I can actually say that from personal experience. I was actually talking to someone when i met my wife and when we did I knew that we had major chemistry (like in the stratosphere compared to the other girl). The next day I called that girl and I met up and I told her that I couldn't in good conscience continue to pursuing a relationship because I met someone whom I felt was the one. I then went to pursue a relationship with whom is now my wife and we will celebrate 10 years this December. My point is that if you really care, even if you don't know the future, you need to give relationships 110% effort. Maybe I'm just biased against Lana because of who I am as a person because they way the put her kinda wanting to leave Whitney but not really and is hoping Clark will say something is honestly very disturbing.

Lex saw this as Clark being a bad friend when Clark only wanted for Lex to be a good and righteous man. Obviously it's difficult especially with the background Lex was brought into. But that doesn't give him the excuse to experiment on human beings and do other shady stuff.

The only reprieve from his father's abuse and condemnation of the folk of smallville due to his father's horrible reputation, was his friendship with clark. Lex really did want to do good. The writers showed us this in the first 2 season this. Even in season 3 after coming back from the island - Lex was still trying mentally. The biggest irony of all is that Clark was the moral arbiter of redemption for many characters throughout the series.. Good example being impulse. Yet he never gave Lex a chance. So Lex never stood a chance. Honestly I think blame should also fall on Clarks parents. Specifically: Jonathan Kent, who, heavily influenced their relationship to the point of no return.

Once Clark discovers this, he dissolves the little string of friendship they had left because, well, what Lex was doing is an invasion of privacy and downright creepy and Clark thought the whole friendship and the time they spent together was all just a sham for Lex to discover his secret. Clark *doesn't* owe Lex his secret, and that's the point people are missing here because they're on the "bESt fRieNDs aLWaYS tElL eACh otHeR tHeiR seCReTs" bullshit. Lex does NOT have the right to watch and invade the privacy of someone, period.
