In this video, I will be having a look at Land Rovers Insurance Product, is it a total waste of time?
Land Rover has launched their new insurance product on the market to help tackle the rising theft and insurance rate of their vehicles- mainly the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. In places like London and Manchester, it is almost impossible to get insurance now due to the number of Range Rovers stolen.
Is Land Rover Insurance the answer to Land Rover owner's problems, or is it a total waste of time?

Lexus Insurance is about the same as the Meerkat and it includes all the legal expenses, protected no claims, genuine parts etc. Lexus have also developed security plates that they are fitting FOC to the RX as thieves are taking the headlights out to access the CANBUS. What a world we live in! It’s no Land Rover, but a 10 year warranty offers excellent peace of mind.

I tried to get a quote on a 2020 SVR. Living in Kensington, London, I'm 35 y/o, 14 years no claims, no points, no accidents past 5 years and no disqualification or convictions. Surprise surprise when I went to view quote it said landrover would not insure me. Fed up tbf

Land Rover has introduced their “insurance” purely to have press coverage that their products can be covered by the company, even though in reality they won’t offer to cover one of their products or they will charge such a high amount people will go elsewhere. On the surface it sounds good but it just shows how little confidence Land Rover have in the security of their own vehicles that they make every effort to make their own insurance unattractive.

I tried Land Rover Insurance after talking to JLR customer services. Gave them all my details 12 years NCD , no claims in the last 40:years .No points Nottingham post code. THEY DECLINED TO QUOTE for my 2019 Velar..

Land Rover Insurance quoted me £1700 for my 2023 Defender 110 X Dynamic HSE versus current insurer Churchill who quoted £600 so yeah LR Insurance seems a scam!

I’m coming up for renewal on my Discovery 4 and getting quotes that are double what I paid last year. The usual rhetoric from companies about land rovers being easy to steal, yet when I say ok, I’ll just do third party only and underwrite my own loss due to theft, the quote is even higher!! Go figure. ??

Note that with a relay attack the attacker is not "mimicking" the key fob. If they were able to do that, it would be a far more serious security flaw. A relay attack simply means that they have a device which can receive the signal from the legitimate fob and replay it onwards to the vehicle. This effectively extends the range of the fob, so that even when it's in the house it can be used to open and start the vehicle outside on the drive. Quite how this flaw got through the risk assessment process I am not sure! An obvious fix for this is to go back to the old method where you _have_ to press a button on the fob to unlock the vehicle. It means the users will always have to press a button (boo hoo!) but it also means attackers can't conduct relay attacks.

@@OH2023-cj9if Yes - the traditional method is not infallable. But at least they have to break in first, as opposed to simply waving an antenna in the air until the doors pop open and they can drive away

Just one interesting point to add that my local independent Land Rover garage pointed out is that LR themselves have now stopped including the 7 day drive away insurance on new and used cars now, so that shows exactly how affordable it is! haha

If you get a Land Rover magazine you will find companies that only insure them. You mite have to join a Land Rover club as well but your get a discount on your insurance. As for them being stolen, you can get a number of devices to stop that or just fit a kill switch.

Hi, I can also confirm I have got a quote from the LR insurance company and it comes in at exactly double the quote from the comparison website. Interestingly I could insure a jaguar f pace svr for a quarter of the price!

My new 2024 Discovery Sport 300e PHEV cost me £16.41 more when I swapped from my Evoque P250 MY2020 this is to cover me to 1st April from 16 December. The Evoque insurance was with Direct Line and was £395 for the year.. Land Rover insurance quoted me £101 per month for the Discovery Sport

I have owned several LRs - bought a 2023 RRS D300 in March'23 and sold it as depreciation started to kick in. I also had on order a RRS P460e since 2022 - cancelled order due to all this and dealer literally couldn't have cared less if they tried.

Depends on the excess too. I'm surprised thieves try to steal them we had a PCP/rental on a new Evoque HSE Dynamic; over 4 years - 2 door handles (apparently common issue), coolant pipe leaking and front passenger spring. Lovely car inside and out, rally car looks, but it's reliability was shocking. My old 2009 18 year old Boxster was more reliable and that had a lot of new tech for the time - dual clutch transmission, valved switchable exhaust, sport-chrono and an electric roof. Porsche also pickup the car, drop of a curtesy car, service it and then return it and take back the curtesy car. I had to take time off to take it to an LR franchise to get it fixed. Being self employed it (Evoque) ended up costing me money - the whole point of getting a NEW car was so it would not break-down. A luxury brand should come to serve you, like Porsche do. I think with Range Rover it's all just marketing...

Land Rover Insurance refused to give me a quote. I currently have a 2017 D5 HSE, with 2 after market trackers, an after market immobiliser and a steering lock. I've had two D4s stolen in the last 3yrs. Live in Yorkshire, not inside a city. I've just renewed my insurance and I could only find 2 Which? rated insurers (regardless of rating) that would quote me as a new customer. One at £2.5k and the other at £7k! Fortunately my current insure offer to renew me at £2k. I came very close to selling a car I very much like and want to keep. JLR need to do more to protect its brand in my opinion.

We have a 2017 Discovery sport worth around £9,000, we live near Bristol, the previous year we were insured by Stella who gave us no renewal price or contact us to warn us our insurance was expiring. Luckily we checked as we had just had an MOT so were aware the insurance was due soon. We paid £26 per month with Stella and when we did a Gocompare the cheapest quote was £84 per month with a £5000 excess, yes you read that right, £5000 !!! Land Rover insurance was the cheapest we could get but its still £61 per month so over double.

I tried to get a quote on any of the pre 2018 rr or rrs "SORRY, WE ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A QUOTE FOR YOUR LAND ROVER. same for 2020 and 2021. No legal cover as well. Which is insane in today's day and age. So is the flawed security in land rovers..

I have a 2018 Discovery 5 HSE. I contacted the Land Rover dealer to get the upgrade to the keyless security and was told that my vehicle is not eligible. They said it was only certain vin numbers they were upgrading. Don't know if they were just fobing me off! I am 62 years old with 13 years no claims living in a safe postcode. Land rover would not quote me for insurance. My premium has more than doubled in the past year to £1,000.

I have a 2022 Range Rover via a comparison site for £800, I have no issues and a tracker wasn’t required although I have a tracker fitted

It doesn't matter WHO is providing the quote. What you need to look at is, who is UNDERWRITING the actual insurance. That bit is usually in the smallest print at the very bottom of the quote. Land Rover don't have their "own" insurance. they are arranging it through a broker called "Wrisk Transfer" and they , in turn, are using an insurance company. Nearly ALL motor insurance is actually underwritten by "UK Insurance" so all these "competitive" quote are actually from the very same insurer with a different front man. Look at your policy and see for yourself.

Purchased a 21 plate Range Rover sport 1 month ago from main dealer, i am 67 years old with decades of no claims etc and live in a rural village in Lincolnshire not even a bus service, Range Rover would not give a quote for the car I had just purchased, I wish I had requested a quote before I paid, Volvo xc90 is looking good next time, plus I have only done 200 miles since purchase and the service light came on, if the main dealer can’t sort out the service and reset what chance that the update has been done, I did ask and they haven’t got a scooby doo.

Yes, got a quote and it was at the upper end of standard insurers. Shame really, they missed an opportunity. I have a Disco Sport 2017 plate, current insurance £680, Land Rover quoted £880 with less cover. I used Confused for my cover and got £156 of free car washes, which always goes in handy with a Landy!

I have a RR Velar - 2 years old delivered in Jan 2022. Insurance was £600 the first year - increased nearly 100% last year which I reluctantly paid and was quoted £2300 for this year. Went on JLR Insure to get a quote - they declined to even quote. Why would anyone buy a car that the Manufacturers own Insurance Service won’t insure ? I change cars every 3 years. - My next car won’t be a RR.

Just put a deposit down on an Evoque, but having done some research and got some quotes I'll be cancelling it. JLR wouldn't insure the car and other quotes are around £1500. I am 49 no claims or convictions. Live in a semi rural area and been driving for 31 years.

It must also be affecting older Defenders, as my insurer (Aviva), which charged 972 for 2023 has just advised that for the same coverage for 2024 will cost 1231. I have made no claims and only use the vehi cle for less than 3000 miles in the year. I view this as price gouging, but, what can you do, you are required by law to allow the insurance companies to screw you.

Discovery was £600 More than cheapest I could find, however our Evoque was £300 Cheaper than I can find.

My RR Evoque dynamic (non keyless) was approx £400 fully comp last year , not only did they decline to insure this year but referred me to others at £1500 !!! Shopping around most companies either refused to insure (after going through the whole process, knowing from the first question it was an Evoque) or quoted a laughable £650 premium but a ridiculous £6000 excess !! Then I found Yoga insurance who quoted me a slight increase from last year of £450 and an identical XS to previous £450, with the added bonus of EU 90 day cover thrown in. All the same cover as previously. This was with the underwriters Ageas so I've paid and all policy documents came through........... but wait ! Stop the bus !........ just checked last year's documents for my now refused to insure company......AGEAS ??? What is going on , that was through Swinton Insurance ?

JLR refused me insurance on my 2016 RR Autobiography based in North London - clean license, 9+ yrs no claims etc etc - eventually found insurance through a comparison website but at roughly double the cost to last year. JLR happy to rinse owners for main dealer annual service costs but don’t even have enough confidence in their own security to insure their own cars. Shameful dereliction of responsibility.

NFU insurance is always competitive for LR/RR and they have offices in most towns in the UK so you deal local until there’s a claim, which are sorted centrally with independent loss adjusters. Sometimes only a quote from an approved repairer and pictures sent, is enough. The approved repairer would sort all that out.

I have been a member of the NFU and had their insurance for a lot of things, house, tractors, caravan, home contents, vehicles all of which I have been quite happy with. But, they flat out refuse to ver my Discovery as it is a grey import. Everything is as it left the factory and is identical to a UK market version except for one thing, it isn't full of rust. They were happy for me to put a rover V8 in a couple of series 3 rovers which is far from standard for an 88". If it wasn't for the fact they were so good with the other cover I have I would go elsewhere.

@@m1cxf I find that it depends who you talk to at their offices. Some staff are more experienced at oddballs than others and more willing to accommodate. It’s a ‘people thing’ as often as it is a rules or ‘policy’ thing.

Not LandRover specifically but the latest insurance "fiddle" made by insurance companies claiming off another for repair is the courtesy car daily rate fees, the longer they can keep the car on a ramp for repair the larger the settlement claimed. Accidents have gone down, thefts have too but premiums have risen massively. Go figure, it aint the cost of the paint or keyless entry etc etc now is it.

I have got a Range Rover but Land Rover deserve this. They have known about all the issues for years but they rely on Range owners continuing to buy their cars to maintain status. But the fact is that you should not be charging the amount of money that they do for cars with these issues. They need to get to the root of the problem and find a way to fix these issues and get rid of their unreliability image.

I don’t have a Range Rover or Land Rover insurance. I do have a 2011 90 my insurance renewal came in today £360 more than last year They just said it’s down to market increases, So that’s £920 fully comp!! Now I’m 55 I thought my insurance would start getting cheaper😂

My LR product is a 2014 Freelander 2, possibly the most reliable and the last affordable vehicle they ever made, and my insurance jumped from £150 to £260. I was shocked at first but now realise it’s a bargain so I won’t be trading up the newer model I was eyeing. The village I live in is stiff with Freelanders, older Discos and classic Defenders. Owners are clinging grimly to these vehicles, the local specialist is doing a roaring trade, and I doubt that when the time comes any of these will be replaced by new LR products, the company is surely doomed.

My L663 Defender went from £1300 to £2600 with Admiral. No change in circumstances etc. Comparison sites went for £6000 to over £7000. Even NFU was over £4000! Not tried JLR insurance but previous quotes suggests I'll be staying with Admiral.

Our 2015 4.4 L405 went from 650 to 1300 quid with Admiral.... I shopped around not found cheaper yet. My Porsche 992 is up from 1200 to 1600, no change in circumstances for us.

I've got the 2023 4.4 v8 and a 2006 RRS 2.7 D I live in Barnsley I'm 51 with Full NC I'm with Churchill the 4.4 is £1750 the RRS is £1800 ones worth 50 times more than the other but still more expensive they said it was due to theft

i have been in correspondence with the JLR insurance underwriters. They will not underwrite a 23 plate RR, 21 Velar or 19 Disco for a 50yr with 10 yrs no claims and no convictions with the cars garaged all under 7k miles and SD&P only - why? the postcode is "B" - Birmingham (which covers about 50% of the west midlands so even JLRs underwritters dont believe the JLR spin on security as theft levels in the West Midlands are at epidemic levels. So JLR how do i get my deposit back! The only B is the BS from JLR - the enhancement makes no difference to JLR own insurers i am sorry to say.

Never had a land-rover, but daughter does, even my citroen insurance increased by 100%.... Managed to get cheaper by switching.... Bit of a real concern with the discovery though( 2ltre diesel)

yes they would not insure me at all for a RRS HST p400 on a 69 plate i'm thinking of buying. Interestingly NFU wont touch Land rovers at all now even though they had been partners for years offering discounts on cars if a member of the NFU. Had a quote for 1080 from saga via compare the market. this is doable but i'm concerned that it could double in 12 moths leaving me in the poo. Im a 57 year old male who has been driving for 38 years and never made a claim and free of any offences, I also live rural away from major cities.

Well, it’s not really their product, it’s just a white label, Wrisk Transfer Limited; they also provide insurance for Mini Flex, and presumably BMW.

Land Rover would not quote for my 2016 Discovery 4. Renewal quote from Aviva went from £636 last year to £1476. They want to get their money back after paying out last October for the theft of my 2015 D4 which was not recovered. Other quotes have been similar or more expensive. I even tried taking off the claim for the stolen vehicle and LR would not quote. Land Rover insurance? waste of time.

Legal cover is useless and doesnt work if YOU are at fault. Dont buy that option, waste of money. Get a legal cover with house insurance, that one covers legal advice and costs regardless who is at fault.

Surely it would be easier just to scrap the keyless entry system- that appears to be the Achilles Heel that's caused all the thefts. And let's be honest, if you're too lazy to press a button on your key as you approach your car, you really shouldn't be driving......

My insurance on my 2023 RR HSE £123k runs out in March 2024. I live in London and dreading finding new insurance. Tried the Landrover insurance but was refused. Is this just a PR stunt ? Used to see a lot of RR around West London now not so easy to spot. Will I have to sell in March?

London based too (SW), I’ve got a 2023 RR Autobiography on an Admiral multicar cover that’s up for renewal in January, the renewal has come in at £2000 for the RR. The comparison websites were coming back with £5000+, so £2000 feels like a bargain 😂😢

Admiral don't include legal cover, it's £25/£29 extra.

I had a bad experience with legal cover. I _think_ it was Admiral too! But I'm sure they all do it. Someone ran into the back of me, so was 100% their fault. But she (the other driver) was a solicitor and knew how to game the system. She made up a pack of lies, which of course she had no way to substantiate. But it effectively turned into an argument about blame. I was very willing to go to court because I knew I could prove all the claims I was making and the solicitor would have no way to prove hers, since they were lies. But the insurance company bottled it and declined to go to court. So even though I paid extra for legal cover, it wasn't worth the paper it was written on in the end!

I tried to get insurance for my 2019 Range Rover Vogue P400e. 59 years old, 13 years no claims, safe area code. Just comes back with Unable to Insure your Landrover. So, what’s going on? I can however insure it via eSure or £1007. I have a feeling it is just media hype from JLR to allay the fears of owners. Also, on another topic, I have not been informed of the security update and when I asked at the local dealer they seem to know little about it, again is it just media hype from JLR ?

I have a late 2016 L405 vogue SE and JLR insurance would not quote. I live in Kingston Upon Thames (KT1) so Greater London and have 15yr NCB. As an aside my car is also held captive for a warranty claim for a steering rack for the last 8 weeks awaiting parts. So frustrating when the value is falling through the floor as only bought as approved in March 23 and value now 35% down!

@@thedoctorsgarage it is utter insanity by JLR to go from 8 regional warehouses to 1 with unipart. Typical outsourcing mess and nobody is talking about it. It is amazing how a steering rack or your wiring loom is unobtainium when JLR make the damn things! Regretfully after 20yrs in various land rovers the journey is over for me. New Toyota Land Cruiser?

@@stevehatesrunning JLR don't make them, they're made by Bosch. Bosch are inundated with demand because for years they were making racks with mixed metals, so bolts were corroding and snapping. Therefore they've all got to be recalled meaning huge backorders - Tesla, Mercedes, certain JLR cars, Ford etc. all affected. The actual recall is to replace the bolts with steel, however as you can imagine on cars that are up to 12 years old and driven in wet climates with many seeing salted roads throughout winter across Europe and parts of USA, many are snapping at removal meaning the only fix is a new rack. Hence Bosch can't supply as many racks as are needed. You'd think a company like Bosch would realise that mixing steel and aluminium isn't going to end well wouldn't you really!

go compare 2023 range rover svr £2200 i thought was cheap ins. compared to people saying £6000 on drive not garaged no gates left in public car park in day normal house in sheffield/ ne- derbyshire

Hi, my 2018 Disco 5 insurance has nearly doubled since last year (£600 in 2022, £1075 in 2023) and that is with my current insurer. When I did the LR own Insurance quote it came in much higher again. It would be interesting to hear if you have the same issue with your disco 4 or is it only effecting certain age groups?

Not really a good comparison, why did you not get a quote from Compare the market for the Range Rover JLR wouldn't insure? I suspect JLR are just concentrating on the central London and Manchester area and to try and knock the company for doing this is rather pathetic, at worst they're an extra option, which in it self will make other companies more competitive. However judging by the number of comments here of people getting insurance quotes as not able to insure is very suspicious, what's even more suspicious are these alleged security upgrades 😏 Sadly JLR have just become a Mickey Mouse company, from the King of SUV's to this 😡 I suspect in a year, they'll be filing for bankruptcy

Thanks for the comment Jack- the quote for the uninsurable Range Rover on LR insurance was around £1700 on CTM. I would also add I’m not knocking them but giving my personal opinion based on the facts I can get trying to insure my own Land Rover.

The meaning of "SCAM is a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation. Cannot see how the offer of insurance, albeit very expensive, is a scam. I would offer that your considered post is sufficient without resorting to clickbait language in the title . Maybe leave that to other notorious YT posters (no names, but they know who they are).

Thanks for the video . Really think this LR insurance is purely window dressing . I got quote for my 23 RR sport but £600 more than current insurer so no benefit . They are treating consumers like idiots with this and either should do it to make a real difference eg if CEO has stated new model has very little theft so why not reflect this in their own policy . Love the car but will get rid at end of lease which if you look at number of new model on used market is exactly what’s happening .
