Tow ball height is adjustable. There are different height hitches that have different amounts of raise/drop that you can get for the hitch receiver. Some even have variable amount of raise/drop. This is used to compensate for different trailer heights.

The best system for hauling stuff on top of the load bed is a load rated tonneau cover. The Diamondback HD cover is rated at 1600 lbs and has many different accessories that can be attached for whatever you want to do. It is easily one man removable. Renegade also has a cover rated at 2,000lbs, but wait times are long. Systems that support cargo over the bed on a rack are available, but pay close attention to the weight ratings. Many manufacturers will quote a weight and you have to look at the fine print to find out that the rated weight is only available while the vehicle is not moving and a much lower weight is quoted for dynamic loads. I find it funny that you would refer to the Ranger as massive. It is considered to be a mid-size here in North America and there are two other pickup segments that are bigger (full size pickup - F150 and Ram/GM 1500, large pickup - F250/350/450 pickup and Ram/GM 2500/3500). All of the larger pickups have more interior volume which makes them less of a compromise when compared to something like a Range Rover. The back seat in a F150 and up (same cab on F150 through F600) actually has quite a bit more space than a long wheelbase Range Rover. The small gas/petrol engines use a lot more fuel once you start working them. The Ranger Raptor is somewhat neutered in Europe, so the acceleration is not typical of what you would see in the rest of the world. I'm also assuming that your fuel economy is as low as it is due to your average speed being quite low and the percentage of time that you have been towing. As something to compare to, I have an F450 (just over 9,000lbs/4.1mt empty) with a 6.7L high output diesel. Average fuel mileage when not towing is around 18 miles per US gallon/22.5 mpg imperial combined (20 mpusg/25 mpg imperial on highway at 60 mph). Towing a 2t caravan wouldn't really change that number much, but my 7t 30' long enclosed car hauler drops me to around 14 mpg US (tow rating is 30,000 lbs conventional, 32,000lbs on a bed mounted hitch). 0 to 60 acceleration in the F450 is around 6.5 seconds when empty.

I get 20 MPG towing my loaded trailer and 20+ MPG towing my 27ft twin axel caravan. I get about 35+ MPG on a long run without towing. I tow about half the time and my overall MPG is just over 25 MPG this includes lots of short journeys. I have a 4.4 twin turbo diesel L322.

Vehicle looks fantastic but the running cost would cripple me! Guess the Road tax and insurance is quite costly too!

If you had gotten a decent Range Rover you’d get better mpg, better towing, better comfort and an all round better car. I’m sorry I don’t mean to be rude but I can’t watch you trying to convince me this is a great car! Isn’t petrol really expensive in the UK?

I canceled my Rapter and went for the wildtrak instead , for everyday use a far better choice , owned it for one year now , great everyday vehicle .
