Today, nearly all Land Rover parking brakes are electro-mechanical. The rear brake calipers need to be retracted or placed into a service mode in order to perform brake pad or rotor maintenance.
When replacing calipers, EPB actuators or other brake components other than pads and rotors, you will first have to enter ABS assembly mode, then enter EPB service mode.
