When I first heard of this I immediately thought Mike is going to put his double slat wings on a Carbon Cub. The fact that they didnt need the double slat wings makes it all the more challenging and impressive. Still that approach looked super scary.

Yeah, it isn’t the overshoots that are the problem, it just requires once coming in too low. Thank God it all worked.

Scrappy can change configurations from a very slow flying airplane to a relatively fast airplane. This one only needed to fly slow. That's my guess for why retractable double slats weren't used.

Extremely impressive and exciting. How does Mike not have a millions subscribers? No other channel has this level of aviation engineering, collaboration and adventure….. OK, clearing the beach and the environment and caring for the emergency procedures is that little extra info that was needed to make me convinced that this was a planned safe event where only the pilot risked his own lofe. Mike, all thumbs up to you and the whole team of divers, firemen, people accepting to be disturbed in their Dubai beach holiday and also the managers of the towers that accepted to maybe end up with a mess on the building. By far this was the most advanced project regarding STOL I have ever heard of and now I really enjoy the show. Big shout outs to maybe a hundred men and women doing this. Sorry for beeing irritated in first place but somehow nothing less safe would have been tolerated by you Mike. All your history cries for this. I shouldn't have doubted your dedication to safety. Big love and what a pleasure seeing you ending up in the RB team. Many things to come...

Doable? Sure, but safely actually doing it is,... absolutely mindblowing. The exact right participants. Not that there's no other capable people on the planet, but this is so Mike and so Luke and so Cub Crafters and yes, this is a very, very Red Bullish thing to do. I'm out of words. Gotta watch it some more.

A ton of other media outlets have picked up on this story, and it's all over Facebook. The comments coming out of people are amazing, like 'Oh, any bush plane can do that, land in their own length, they do it all the time in Canada and Alaska' and 'Oh, that's not hard, they do it all the time up north.' I wish these people would watch your videos on this. Mike, you, Luke and the team did a fantastic job, and if you hadn't been involved, it wouldn't have happened! Kudos!

Incredible. just wow! The skills and space age engineering behind the build. I mean the Titanium work alone must have been a Herculean task, never mind the composites team, propulsion, aerodynamicists and good old fashioned engineers with the vision to fabricate solutions to problems that have never existed before and may possibly never again. And then the jaw dropping piloting skills. I mean, that split second flap deployment and tapdance on the brakes to keep everyone's hearts from stopping. Truly magnificent achievement, Bravo the lot of you.
