Landscape Photography - The Ground Beneath Your Feet

Hiking and landscape photography go very well together, but it is not always the grand vistas that draw me in and get me inspred. Often it can be the very ground beneath my feet that inspres me enough to unpack my camera gear and take a shot. In this video I start the day slowly in my camper van before undertaking a beautiful day hike up Great End and Allen Crags. The photograph you see in this video has been altered quite dramatically and I will go in to more detail about that in my next video. See if you can figure out what I have done differently.
Here are some stats from the day- Distance: 15.58km. Time: 6:45:35. Ascent: 2887ft

It's contributions of a video like this that keeps me inspired. When I watch one of your videos where there's no grand shot to be had, it reminds me that we're all in the same boat. Rolling to the whims of what our natural surroundings throw our way. Sometimes you're there at the right place, at the right time. But many times it's just like this day.

I've come to appreciate the beauty of a hike more and more. I can easily spend hours out in the wilderness without even taking out the camera. A scene needs to connect with me in a way, else it's going to be forced and I wont be happy with the result. From what I've seen it seem to be the same for you. It comes across in the video anyway, that you are at peace with what you are doing and you know that even if others will think differently it doesn't really matter because what in the end you're doing it for yourself first and foremost. In simpler words, lovely video Thomas!

Dear Thomas, thank you for sharing your peace, and your happiness out on a hike with all of us. It came through very clear, in the way you spoke and in the photo you took too, that you were very present in the moment and seeing and enjoying the little things in your day. It makes my day happier, helps me pause and enjoy the beautiful aspects of the world around me right now. Thank you for this gift, and for the photo too. A great place in beautiful weather. I climbed a snow covered Great End one winter via Central Gully, it was some walk in as most of the passes were closed and leaving the car somewhere wasn’t easy.
