@weiwenwwe20664 жыл бұрын
@@karlonly9941 you may perceive it differently, but from the other videos I've seen him upload, all I see is him putting down others (especially Chinese people) while they try their best to learn English. Learning a language is not easy and it requires a lot of courage, but it's disturbing that there is a double standard going on in his videos. Like in one of his videos he commented sarcastically about someone having an American accent and in another video he criticises someone for his/her chinglish accent. I really wonder what does he expect him/her to do? He also tries to put on an acceny but I don't see anyone criticising him but there he is putting down others. It's like asking them not to speak at all. Why not let him be more encouraging and not just simply putting down others while they try hard to speak English.
@weiwenwwe20664 жыл бұрын
@@karlonly9941 he puts down others for having an American accent (I.e: JJ LIN) yet he puts on a Chinese accent while speaking. I don't see a problem in that but since he's there to ciriticise others for putting an accent while he himself does the same, I feel it's important to point it out

@@weiwenwwe2066 I guess I haven't watched enough of his content or haven't witnessed this yet. I can't say your wrong but I'll pay more attention. But I do hope you realize Chinese culture is very blunt and comments that would be considered rude in America, Canada, UK are not as serious in Chinese culture. Maybe it's a culture understanding he's expressing. As you saw in this video the girl called him a mother F'er which to her was a complete stranger.

John Snow and people from the North in Game of Thrones usually had quite clear (not-harsh) Northern accents, if that is any help in trying to figure out what a Northern English accent sounds like :-) .

this is the most natural chinese accent I've ever heard from a foreigner. you could definitely pass for a native. -- edit: this comment is pretty old but there have been lots of replies so i just want to clarify: i'm in no way saying that laoma chris is the most impressive language learner or the only foreigner who can speak mandarin this well! i'm merely saying that, out of all the foreigners i've heard speaking mandarin, his accent could most easily pass for a native's. i don't doubt that there are other foreigners who speak mandarin just as well, or even better. also, other language-learners (such as laoshu, xiaomanyc, and more), are impressive as well! mandarin can be difficult for english-speakers to learn, and the fact that they can learn mandarin to such an extent is amazing. this comment is in no way meant to discredit their achievements. i just wanted to point out that laoma chris has an extremely natural chinese accent, even more so than myself, despite the fact that i am fluent and have learned chinese for 18 years (since birth) as an american-born chinese with immigrant parents. sure, laoma chris has had the advantage of actually living in china, but that doesn't take away from how good his mandarin is, especially for a foreigner! -- tl;dr please don't take this comment the wrong way or argue in the comments. all language-learners are impressive, and if you are one yourself, 加油!

I am Chinese, graduated from an ordinary Chinese university, didn't get ideal grade in college entrance examination , either, just merely passed CET4 by good luck, failed in cet6 three times,I went to South Korea for a trip in the summer vacation of my junior year of my university, since then I realized the importance of English,my passion was triggered out,I was 20 that year, right now I am 27 years old, after seven years practice,I feel my spoken English is at least not much worse than students of Peking university of this video, although still with accent, this proved two well-known proverbs,one is no pain no gain, another one is practice makes perfect,btw,my method of English study is creating bilingual environment myself, if it was not urgent,I would require myself to tranlate each of sentences spoken by me into English, gradually,more and more familiar,for students who can only study English domestically,you may consider this method

Day late but the description he gave of the unique Chinese word sounds like a perfect description of how most introverts process. Inside - so much. Outside - quiet. But you get to know us & we can be wickedly funny.
It is very funny, but don't you think it's a little embarrassing too for us as a people? I mean, the fact that we Chinese are always surprised when a foreigner can speak the language is a bit ethnocentric (arrogant), right? 我認為中國人有點民族主義。Chinese is just a language like any other, and with enough effort anyone can learn it.
