Thank you! I just got a lap steel this week and this is the best explanation I’ve found regarding why a c6 tuning is so useful.

Can you imagine being such a miserable person that you'd actually give this video a thumbs down? Great video! I'm new to the lap steel, so this was a very well explained video for knowing where the relative minor of a major chord is. Thanks!

What is sadder is a person who attacks others with whom they disagree. We all have different opinions there's no need to get personal just discuss the info.

@@TonyBurke100 Nope, going out of your way to thumbs down a person who is sharing knowledge to help others completely for free is definitely sadder. People like that need to get a life and stop being bitter, horrible gits. It's not about differing opinions, it's about having some appreciation for good deeds.

Oooooooh man, that was so helpful! I've had my lap steel in Open D, trying to figure out how to play minor chords. This is a game changer!

I really like the bottom fret diagram and I like how to the point you are. Some of these videos are half introduction before you even get to the teaching.

I like this tuning so minor chords are top 3 strings and bottom 3 are major chords. Makes it real easy to remember.

Thanks, I needed this to find some of the minor chords in the prelude to Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay. A-C#m-G-Bm. This helped with those chord shape volume swells.

This was so awesome. I have the same model as yours too. I’ve been playing guitar for 8 years and needed some side instrument to compliment. I love honky tonk and Americana so I thought lap steel was perfect.

Just wondering if there is an advantage in tuning C6 instead of open C, D, E or A, or some other alternative...
@phataton82065 жыл бұрын
Les Black the 6 is what gives you the “steel” sound. Mainly the whole step between the 5 and 6 (middle strings)
@phataton82065 жыл бұрын
Les Black it also gives you straight minor chords instead of the minor7 which is important. If you ever notice Pink Floyd rarely used minor7 chords (not never) but if you put the minor7 it sounds strange. Etc.

Thanks for your response. It makes sense now...

Thanks for the intro lesson. I believe it would be significantly easier to follow the diagram and your hand position if you shot this from your point of that. That is the same point of view we have, and thus it would eliminate the need to reverse everything we are seeing. For example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qKeCdsaImK-Ue2g.html

which one is better for Western swing? C6 E-C-A-G-E-C or C6 C-E-G-A-C-E???
@LondonExperimental4 жыл бұрын
Hi Felipe, those are the same tuning. Sometimes people write the tunings from the low string to the high string (CEGACE) and sometimes from high to low (ECAGEC). C6 is the most versatile tuning for 6 string lapsteel in my own experience, the trick is to be able to mute strings in between the ones you want to sound.
@felipecallejon19734 жыл бұрын
@@LondonExperimental Of course hahaha, it is the same... My fault. But nice to know that this one is the most common C6 pattern. Many thanks!!!
@cacaloca54345 ай бұрын
@@LondonExperimental how did you get your low strings CEG to sound good? My strings are so loose and sound dead. Where do you get your strings?

Would it be possible to put the camera at a different angle? As if it were looking over your shoulder? As it is now, the instrument is reversed for the viewer. I wish I knew how to play lap steel.
