The most common criticism you hear about older cameras seems to be about their inability to be used for "serious" work or in extreme conditions.
"Older cameras are bad at high ISO, and I NEED high ISO"
"Canon cameras have terrible dynamic range, and I require a LOT of dynamic range"
"24mp is really the bare minimum, for me, be I like to crop my photos. I wouldn't consider anything less than 36mp for serious work"
"Sure, photos from old cameras might look fine on social media, but they would look horrible if printed"
The list goes on. How legitimate are these criticisms, though? Aside from pointing out that these cameras were once top of the line and suited professionals just fine, maybe we have become spoiled? Maybe our standards have been raised so much that we find this older gear simply inadequate...
Well, let's find out.

Most people don't understand back in late 90s early 2000 I was shooting with a 4 megapixel Canon 1D and made many 16x20 prints!' That were great! Even sold one to Leonard Nimoy Actor! Even today I shoot with 10 and 16 megapixel camera's

I’ve actually used that camera, specifically, as an example! Prints from the 1D looked great.

I'm amazed. That is such a wonderful photo! I'm a new photographer, so I didn't know RAW files could be pushed that far. I think I'll experiment on my own to see how much my camera can handle; used to think +/- 2 ev was the point of no return. Also, that is such a cute photo of your children. I'm sure they'll be thankful you printed it out. Reminds me of my own photo like this that my dad shot. I was a wee little child back then.

In the early days of digital, +/-2EV would have been brutal. But, most cameras have been pretty stellar, image quality (and capability) wise for over ten years. Most of the modern advancements in cameras are in their computational power, which is seen with endless buffers, super high resolution video at high frame rates, incredibly intelligent autofocus, etc. What are you shooting with?

@@SkylerKing I have a Nikon Z50. Kit lenses, but I don't think that should play much of a part. The only bad parts I heard about the camera was about the autofocus, which I didn't even notice, so it should be fine I think.
