56 % improvement in efficiency. You may not be able to imagine such a jump in ICE today, but don’t forget that 100 years ago, the Ford model T came with an 8 litre, 4 cylinder engine delivering just 20hp. So there, too, large advances were made since the early days of the technology.

I think batteries will become commodity when they: - More than 400w/KG - >95% recyclable (cost wise) - Charge from 15% to 95% in 5 minutes or less - Support over 5.000 cycles (keeping the capacity over 90% of a new one)

Hope the surgery goes well. Was this due to your recent bike accident? On the Porsche EV you might want to review some of the issues owners of them have with high maintenance costs. McMaster for one was classifying all EV's as bad due to his horrific experience with owning the Porsche. Best!

I have an alternative to EV or ICE, no electronics required. Instead of an underfloor battery container like in an EV, a similar size and shape underfloor container houses a giant flat spring, which is also called a “power spring”, essentially a huge clockwork spring. No EV charging station required nor petrol stations. Instead you go to a “wind-up” station where a giant key winds up your car. You pay by the number of winds. One wind gives you 30 minutes of driving, 2 winds are an hour, 10 winds give you 5 hours and so on. You can opt for the “city” spring or the “extended range” spring when you place your order for a new “Springbok” (A springbok is a speedy South African antelope /gazelle for those unfamiliar with the term).

Spoke to a couple who had pulled a caravan from Queensland to South Australia then back up through NSW...EVs are still a long way from being able to do this unfortunately.

I’m a fan of Audi. We have a Q5 and I’d like to see them catch up to Tesla battery tech as I don’t want to buy an Audi EV whose technology is 6 years behind Tesla. (Maybe wishful thinking but one can hope.)

The motor can not be 50% more effective. it might have 50% less loss. If you start at 90% efficiense you can get it to 95% and reduce loss by 50% but you have not made it 50% more effective more like 5%. This Q6 is a nice car and the price seems fair if its true that you dont need a lot of options like most German cars often needs.

You compare Audi and PorschE, the customers don't! If you sometimes as very young have dreamed of a PorschE, you will buy one when you can afford one, if it then happens to suit your needs. I can't remember remember, I have ever dreamt of buying a PorschE, but from1955 till 1970(-75?), my father had a 328 BMW/EMW (badged BMW!) MY 1949(?) standing in a barn. So now I rely on used BMWs. If I really need seven BMW vehicles is a different question...

Less cells is bad. From the statistics point of view. One goes bad out of 400. 0.25% loss. One goes bad out of 100. 1% loss. It is fair to asume that the more modern cells will fail less. Maybe. That's all. I wonder actually about its overall efficiency with its 100kWh sized pack. Shouldn't it get much further with that? Thinking about infamous Tesla efficiency. Also your charging statement is outright wrong and you should kow that. Audi had always a good to great charging speed. For the top line of its EVs. And a mediocre for the "cheap" ones.

If you can't stand the shows then why watch them? The viking gives an opinion which people may or may not always agree with. Some of his videos I may watch for 30 seconds and some I may watch in their entirety. There is a huge bias on the internet in favor of Tesla because undoubtedly they are the best EVs made on the planet!
