Great duel between prime Magic Johnson (86/87 regular season) and young Clyde Drexler.
Magic Johnson: 25 points, 16 assists, 12/21 FG.
Clde Drexler: 30 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 12/25 FG.
Lakers won the game 125:116.

I wonder if anyone agrees with me that this here is a superior form of basketball, so much more entertaining than everyone dancing around the perimeter and shooting threes.

the overall teamwork is so much better. magic and clyde were 2 great team players. clyde was 1 of those rare players who could drop 30 but didn't need the ball that much. clyde was also an underrated passer

Today it's like they game the system. Yes, legal by the rules of basketball. But extremely boring. I do wonder why it took so long for NBA players to figure out that 40% from 3 point range is the same as 60% from 2 point range. It's basic math. Yet, watch all these 80s videos. Often, they re totally open from 3 point range. Yet so few 3s

Larry Bird couldn't handle the ball night after night, quarter after quarter. During short spurts he might do something fancy but if he was given the ball to play point guard we would've witnessed 40 minutes of basketball bloopers. That's why he played forward.

Great match up, that finger roll at 1:39 was classic Clyde, so graceful and athletic very much like Julius Erving was.. you can see the inspiration in Clyde's game

These teams are more fundamentally sound than todays teams. I feel like I am watching a 3 point contest in today's game. This Laker team would smoke the warriors. They could play any style you want. Kareem would fustrate Cousins. Magic would make Curry swallow his mouth piece. And I am not a Lakers fan. I was lucky to see

The Lakers took 5 out of 6 from the Blaze this season, the lone loss coming at Portland. In fact, Portland only won by one point! In other words, the Lakers OWNED the Blazers during this time period. Magic was making it look easy. He ended up with 25 points, 16 dimes and 5 boards. However, Drexler had a triple dub with 30-10-10. Hall of Fame caliber right there, folks.

PORTLAND one hall of fame player in this game (DREXLER)....LAKERS 5-8 HALL of FAME PLAYERS in this game..and people talking about CYLYDE wasn't good he carried this team forever!...

Magic in effin zone. Not only coming up in clutch situations but keeping everybody involved in the game. If you played with Magic and you wanted the ball all you had to do was run and he gets you the ball easy buckets💕 Dont care what anybody says. Old school ball was the best ever.

They weren't losing in the first round during that time and they definitely were winning more than 41 games

@@freddiebryant2967 They were good for more wins, and they were the league's highest scoring team in 1986-87, but they were a first round exit as well until they acquired Buck in 89-90.
