I remember the part on Behind The Music when Kirk said he heard James the next morning screaming on the street: "Cliff, Cliff, where are you?" that was so sad.

One time, Cliff was at home and his neck was hurting. He told his dad how much pain he was in, and he wondered why. His dad said to him, 'Have you ever seen yourself on stage?' Cliff rocking out, was the source. Cliff never realized it. I don't think he changed, he just took more aspirin.

It wasn’t that he didn’t make the connection. It’s that he didn’t want to stop. Headbanging was his natural physical reaction to listening to/playing music

Full version of this interview is pretty good. Lars brought in his girlfriend (future wife) & Howard had fun with it. Howard wasn’t into Metallica until the Black Album, so I think this was his first interaction with them.

This is different than the way James tells the story, they said they saw his legs from under the bus and knew he was dead at the crash site. Also that the bus was dropped on him after trying to pick it up w a crane

@@mg682 my point is, he was telling the story that Kirk told him. So the account will almost certainly differ. That's the telephone game. A person whispers a sentence to the first person in a line, and they in turn pass it to the next person. It's almost guaranteed to be quite different by the end of the line. It stands to reason that Lars' version of the story Kirk told would be different.

A completely different story than James has, James said it was very cold after the bus crashed and the bus was on top of Cliff and a blanket was laying there with him and someone (mustane ?) tried to get the blanket because he was cold and James yelled at him to leave the blanket with Cliff

It's written in Wikipedia that the guy was thrown out through a window and the bus crashed on top of him. The band was probably shocked by the accident, couldn't see their bassist anywhere and figured he was still somewhere inside the bus
