A burst effect grating is an optical means that "multiplies" the actual projection, but at the same time splits the colors up by wavelength. The physical principle behind this is the bending of waves at a grid. There are two types of gratings: transmission and reflection gratings. The one in the CS-500RGB KT is a transmission grating, as the laser shines through it. But there are also coated mirrors that create a similar effect, if you shilne lasers onto them. However, they usually can only multiply dots properly. The DS-1000RGB does not have effects gratings built-in. But The CS-2000RGB FX and CS-4000RGB FX have, they even have different ones and they are swichable via DMX with these models.
