@@petermorris5837 lol that's a bit of an oversimplification. Back in the 90s if we didn't see it in theatres we had to wait damn near a year to rent it at block Buster and watch it in 360 Rez on our 30inch tvs. Now we can see it on Disney+ in 2 months in 4k. This movie was a Warner Bros. release, so they wouldn't have done favors for Disney. Probably Disney got wind of this (the script by Shane Black was a massive deal in Hollywood and every studio including Disney bid over $1M for it before Black and his agent accepted Warners' $1.75M offer) and made it clear they would take action if they included the line. You're right about the Disneyland line being better than "Ain't life a bitch?" too.

@@rossl5908yeah seriously. He didn't seem so out of sorts to me that he would do something like that. When he says "ain't life a bitch" he seems 100% collected, just backed into a corner. As a result, I've always wondered why tf he bothered to shoot a bunch of players if he was just gonna shoot himself in the end. On top of that, anybody (especially a football player) would know that the touchdown isn't gonna count once you shoot a buncha dudes. He coulda slipped out of the locker room, and ran for his life, and even had a better chance at survival. Maybe OP is right, but I personally do not see it in the acting at all. Maybe he's finally having a moment of clarity when he says "ain't life a bitch" but I gotta say, I don't believe the acting and/or writing properly convey a breakdown of reality here. I guess I can kinda see it when he doesn't finish running for the touchdown, that would suggest he did in fact have some kind of epiphany that he's now completely f*cked lol.

The way this film crafted dialogue was superb. Darian quips to Joe Hallenbeck "over her dead body" and is then gunned down a few scenes later. In another scene, one cop asks another cop what he thinks when he sees Hallenbeck to which the second cop replies that Hallenbeck looks like a guy who sleeps in his clothes when that is exactly the first shot we see of Hallenbeck. Brilliant opening : builds up tension, more or less explains the narrative and none of main actors (Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans) feature in this scene - good way of telling a story to an action thriller like this. Here's how I'd say what the storyline is : "The suicide of a blackmailed football player and a murdered exotic dancer lead a private detective and disgraced athlete to pursue justice" - despite the reported issues with various crew members not getting on (Willis and Wayans, Chelsea Field and Tony Scott et cetera) The Last Boy Scout is an good action movie!.
