Hi Tom! First time I’ve Chatted! Love your Videos!! EVERYONE of THEM! You and the other Mudlarkers have kept me ‘sane’ over the winter & now a lockdown Soring!!!! We’re from Belleville, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 I Love your Intro music, every time I start one of your videos, haha, every one in the House pops their head around the corner & says: “Sounds like Tom”! LOL we Love You and wish you all the Very best! I loved the 3 vids of you just walking also!! It was soooo relaxing. And sometimes I shout at the Tv. “No! Tom!! don’t leave THAT! Pick it up again!” Hahaha You are a Great fellow and hopefully One day when this craziness is over and we make our trek across the pond...we can go Mudlarking with you & Gail & Alex & Nicola & Fleur & Kate... all our dear Mudlark friends! Here in Canada, all we would ever find is beach glass & pretty stones! LOL not too many Headless figurines to be Creative with!! Take Care! And Next time put one your Waders!! 🤣😂🤣🦶🏼🦶🏼💕much love from Canada 🇨🇦 Carol, Mike & Scott & Kiki our dog🐾🐾😂🤣. P. S. Can’t see where there is a link to “James “ ? and you never mentioned his channel by name?

Aw, thanks so much Carol, (and Mike, Scott, and Kiki). I'm often pleasantly surprised by how families and other group dynamics react to my videos. Apparently there's a whole ward of nurses somewhere who watch together when on their lunchbreak. 🙂Being a small part in keeping people sane through the current madness has helped keep me sane. Us mudlarks are far flung accross the UK, do you want to lark with us us all in the same place? or are you planning a road trip? Next time might be in the next week, and thankfully the river will be low enough that wellies should be enough, it's far too warm for waders now. Here's the link to James's channel: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a6lnn7hiqsCskWg.html It was in the description below the video... just below a brief description of the video, and above other links. Love from West Yorkshire, UK.🙂

Thanks for the Reply! And I went to James channel, that will be an interesting watch!! We would rent a wee car and make our way around UK. Mike’s family comes from Wales. He has an Uncle in Manchester still. And my Grandpa was from Liverpool & my Nan was from London. 👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️😁😃 🚗 So we want to make our way from the far South right up to Scotland!

We had a fantastic day Tom, thank you so very much for an amazing lark with an incredible amount of treasure to find. Also for the "shout out", I've had so many more views and comments on my little channel thanks to this video and in just a few hours. I couldn't watch the premier, we are an hour ahead of UK time and I was too tired, but watched it like a fond memory this morning, not only was that filmed days before lock down, but also days before I last saw Ellie and my family in the UK. Goodness knows when I'll see them again. 😢. All the best from Linda and I here in the Netherlands (with the big jar) and Ellie back home, hope to see you again. Stay safe and healthy 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

Thanks Terese, it was quite a strange version of that site to encounter... more varied than the previous week when the clay was stripped bare, and not all the trees had fallen. Turns out, one of the perfume dabbers was in fact a Sugar Crusher, making it perhaps older and more interesting. 🙂

Thanks stefanie; yes, the things happening in the US are very much affecting people in the UK, most people I know are feeling sad, and angry, and helpless; worried for friends and family in the US, minorities that we stand in solidarity with, and about how the situation is developing, and whether it could spread to the UK too. It's a rough time, I'm very sorry your country is going though this. 😥

What a wonderful lark! In my eyes, you pretty much hit the jackpot with a little of this and a little of that- all of which I'd pick up and be glad for! Like you, I always retrieve all brass and copper, and then... whatever catches my eye. I follow the tides, so the angle of the sun on any given day is different and can reveal new things I've missed time and again. I do hope you can make your way back home again soon- for your sake, but also for the selfish reason- that I dearly want to see a grand round up! As an aside, I have to say that where I live, they apparently enlisted babies and young children into whaling or other hard work, as there are few toys beyond marbles- and very few of them. I chuckle at the notion every time I go out. Chaos at sea, toddler at the helm. Oh wait.... ouch.

Sorry I missed your premiere, but happy you got this posted. I'm also happy you had this fun trip before the lock-down. That cliff face is an amazing place, with so much to see it's hard to take it all in. Thanks for sharing another one of your wonderful adventures.

What a lovely intro and that jar.Im so glad that it wasn't left behind (I make terrariums).I enjoyed every minute of this new adventure . The glass rod and perfume dabber were the highlights for me but there was just so many things to choose from this time. I'm looking forward to seeing all the treasures cleaned up and displayed Tom.

I haven't gone away; but after the last upload (a three part series over 6 days), I felt a bit fried and took an extra few days off... should be back on a more or less regular schedule again now; though not all of them will be mudlarking as I can't get out far and wide at the moment.

@@tomburleigh9261 I am sure it has been difficult especially since you are not at home. The Johnson's are mudlarking again so hopefully you will be able to soon! We were planning a trip over in September but are unsure as to whether we will be able to make it or not. With the two week quarantine in place upon arriving, it would be pointless for us to travel. We only planned to spend 7 days. The yarn even I was going to attend in Perth was cancelled as well. We may just have to plan for another year.

Dear Tom Burleigh, Thank you for the upload - I am looking forward to a future round up. The Yorkshire skies were breathtakingly beautiful on that day. Roger & Gallet still exists today: they specialise in cosmetics, skincare, and hygiene products. I believe that the decoration inside the lid may still be their current branding. Impressive multitasking on your part😉: cinematography, boot management, potential dragon offspring rescue, water levels assessment, etc.

Thank you, I've missed larking too. I'm not quite back to full larking; the places I park near here are all closed for the time being, and I have to be doubly careful still. But there will be some summer larking videos before very long... maybe interspersed with the spring walks and exploration videos I've already filmed. 🙂

Thank you Margaret. Yes, I was a little reckless on this outing; I knew I would have to go into lock-down soon, and was determined to make the most of it. Thankfully, my camera is waterproof, so it would have added to the footage... and I'm a strong enough swimmer to make it to the side of that river, at that water level; probably about 50 yards downstream of where I went in... but long before being too tired to make it out of the current. 🙂

Some fantastic finds as usual.. I particularly liked the old baby bottle, the uranium glass and that awesome flower at the end that James found. As for the kayak..... maybe a rubber rind and scuba gear instead? Hehe just joking but seeing more of the river definitely gets my vote if you ever find a way. Thanks for sharing and stay safe and well.

Thanks Jayne. Some of the inflatable kayaks I've looked at aren't much better than a rubber ring 😄. I have thought of scuba diving in the river; I have my Padi open water qualification, but the visibility isn't great.

Tom Burleigh Yes they did scuba diving on River Hunters that was on tv a while back. Shame about the visibility though. On the positive side, the commentary wouldn’t be quite so interesting under water.. blub.... blub

@@KittyGrey13 I follow a few US youtubers who do little else but scuba dive in rivers. The commentary when it comes, isn't usually very interesting... but they're popular channels. DALLMYD is perhaps the biggest... and it does look like so much fun; I'd be very tempted to do it in clearer rivers... not many of them around here though, too full of peat from the moors.

Tom Burleigh well I like your videos as they are anyway. It’s nice to have a ramble through places that few people would even think of going. I suppose you could experiment with some magnet fishing but that would only bring up metal of course. You do have some wonderful beaches to explore there though despite the lack of clarity to the water.

How do you stop yourself from taking everything! I love the stone wear, it's those little pots that I adore so much! I live where we don't see much trash dumps, and the people who do throw trash are mostly recent and it is destroying our deserts prestine beauty. We are not very old from English standards but I live down the road from where Billy the kid used to roam.

Thank you, I'm perhaps a bit critical of my camerawork sometimes, I can tell as I'm doing it if it's uncontrolled and sloppy. I hope, always to do my best; these videos could concievably still be watched in 20+ years and I don't want to look back and cringe at how amateur I was if I can help it. I can't watch my first few videos, they're terribly shakey.
