Quite a character. So normal and humble. That's what made him a star.

I met Rupert as a nervous teenager back in '99 and he was so friendly. He graciously invited us in, shook our hands and even signed a takeout menu for us. Class act all the way and in my opinion is well deserving of the fame and success he's enjoyed.

That segment with the finger in the glass is the best too. "It was my THUMB..." Rupert actually delivered that line even better than Dave said it

Yeah dude, he had a knack for taking lines Dave delivered to him in monotone and making them sound really convincing. Dude probably coulda been an actor.

Rupert said it best. Don't try to be better than Dave, just be yourself. Everyone picked up on that including Dave. The audience always cracked up and so did Dave with so much affection with his deadpan reactions.

Watching this made me sad. I used to tape the show all week and on weekends have "Daveouts" with the VCR. I got good at blazing through commercials with fast forward. Rupert was great on the show, a huge attribute and definitely one of the best guests. Somehow he brought out the best in the writing of the show.

A very nice tribute by Rupert! It was segments like those with Rupert or going way back to Mujibur and Sirajul that made Dave so popular with his neighbors and tv audiences. He was the “man on the street” type of host and flourished because of it!
