Gday, I finally get around to putting flood coolant on the lathe, I used a pump and filter from a parts washer, I use Hangsterfers 5030 soluble oil in the mill and now the lathe, this coolant is transparent which is great if your machining to scribe lines, I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching, Merry Christmas everyone, Cheers
The Hangsterfers coolant and inserts I buy from Livetools here in Australia,

Check -on the mig welding machine datasheets for amps& voltage settings. - the contacts tip dia is correct for the filler wire dia. & the filler wire is free from workshop dust & rust. & periodically blow out the liner with compressed air. You’re welding thick to thin consider pre heating the thicker part. Gas flame or kitchen oven. Start the weld on a piece of scrap metal and run the weld to the start point. Don’t catch your sleeve in the lathe chuck when you switch the pump on/off.

Nicely done! - never thought of using an old parts washer motor, will have to keep an eye out and see if I can scrounge one myself! I was considering just setting up a gravity feed system with a couple of 10l buckets. One on the floor to catch the draining fluid, the other mounted on the wall above the lathe. Then just emptying the bottom bucket in to the top bucket when the top bucket got low.

@@MattysWorkshop I have the S-500 variant. It is a 1:13 mix. Aaron Powter got it for me. It seems to do a good job but it is very white and as you say, it tends to obscure the work. I recently completed the coolant plumbing on my Bridgeport and now I am trying to deal with the mess and the clean up after a session. It does help with prolonging the life of the cutters though.

Great coolant system Matty, will be really useful especially for parting off. With regard to drill bits in the tailstock, a good idea is to use a collet chuck. This is a recommendation from our mutual friend Rob 🙂 I use an ER32 collet chuck in my tailstock all the time, way better than a Jacobs chuck for holding drill bits. It grips better and even if the bits do spin the chuck won't bugger them up. The chuck holds so well that I can hand tighten centre drills and they don't spin even when drilling steel. Cheers, Alan.

It that plastic hose gives you trouble cause it wants to curl you can pull it straight and hit it with the heat gun while keeping it straight just slight warming usually does it if that doesn't do it put a pipe or rod in the end with a hose clamp pull straight hit it for a lil longer with the heat gun you'll feel it get warm and soften the tension then immediately spray with water and it should solid up into that shape 👍👍👍
