They are actually all doing quite well. The first year of any tree won’t show a lot of vertical growth because they have to establish their root system in the new soil. This year they are all greening up nicely and by next year they should really start to take off vertically. The one on the end was underwatered and sickly when I got it, but I still haven’t dug it up and it’s got new growth this year, so I’ll continue to see how it does. At the beginning they did get a little too much water, but after getting the drip irrigation dialed in they’ve done really well this year especially during some of the hot stretches this summer. @@Type5Reviews Nice. They seem like touchy little buggers. Hope they fill in. I think your offset setup and spacing looks exactly like what I had in mind when I searched and found your video. I thought a year later would have yielded a touch better results. I'll be planting in fall and will lower expectations for the next year and make sure to fertilize and keep on top of these so they establish well. Did you do a spring or summer planting? I didn't check the exact date of any planting video. I know that can also be a little more finnicky than a fall planting.

I planted mine late spring/early summer which wasn’t really ideal, but with the drip irrigation they made it through the first summer well enough. I think planting them late summer/early fall would actually be a great time to give them enough time to establish before the winter and not stress them out from the heat of the summer.
