Hannah and Tori are joined by the wonderful Vero of Verowak Reacts ( / verowakreacts ) for a reaction to a true gem of a movie. Neither of the three had any idea what to expect from this 2010 action comedy with Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban, John Malkovich, and Morgan Freeman.
Suffice it to say, they were as surprised as they were delighted by this film.

That old man, record keeper was legendary actor, Ernest Borgnine (1917to 2012). He had a long career in entertainment from 1947 to 2012. Ernest worked and lived until his death in 2012 at the age of 95. Ernest served in the military (US Navy from 1935 to 1945) with his time during WWII. After the war, Ernest started his career in 1947 at the age of 30 thru his last acting credit in 2012.

My favorite thing about this movie was the special version on Blue Ray. It included a fully itemized price guid of the total cost of all repairs, cost of bullets & everything else in the film. As the bullets start flying, the film inventories the total cost of repair for everything. Hilarious. 😂

This movie and the sequel are awesome. The writers did an awesome job on these movies. They did a great job casting as well. 4:46 I love the transition between the bullet and his eye. 20:49 I always liked this scene cause it’s clear that Frank is younger than the records keeper but the records keeper is acting like a kid around him. The medallion around John Malkovich's character is a U.S. Army Special Forces Coin used to ID themselves and give to others that they feel a debt to. It was not explained in movie but is a nod to all real special operators and Intelligence operatives usually recruited from special operators.

I'm going to go out on a really thin and shaky limb here, and say that the Entire Wholesale Ancestral and Descendantal Line of the Actor AKA John Malkovich Was, Is, and Ever Shall Be a Personal Individual Autonomously Collective Chetnik; During The War. For The Chetnik, The Target of Interest is Always The Dentist; And For This Particular Individually-Targeted Odontoiatric Gnostic Surgeon, at the hand of The Chetnik, It Is Not Safe -- Ever. No one screws with the Israelis of the Balkans -- Not even should he happen to be represented as The Single Finest Fighting Force Ever Assembled -- To wit: The Decent Hard-working Men and Women of Los Angeles. The movie is loosely based off of a DC limited release comic series about retired ex spys. Mary Louise Parker who plays the love interest was most known for the HBO series Weeds where she plays a widowed suburban house wife who turns to selling drugs to support herself. It's a hilarious and sardonic examination of suburbia and the strangeness that lurks behind a veil of normalcy. The movie is very well done and superbly acted.

If you're in the mood for an old, classic rom-com, check out "Marty." It stars Ernest Borgnine (Henry the records keeper from "Red"), playing an "older" (30-something, which was old in the 50's) bachelor who gets grief from his family and neighbors about being single. He meets a plain-looking woman at a dance and they like each other, despite their self-consciousness. It's super sweet.

Hannah and Tori, going to say this now. Loving your reactions. Always pleased when Verowak joins in, she's kind of amazing to join a reaction of. To borrow (and paraphrase) from Harry Potter. "10 points to Hannah, 10 points to Tori, 10 points to Verowak, and 50 points to Verowak Reacts and Run to the Movies" 5:42-5:51 I agree with all three of you. I buy you dinner? That means, as long as I was not a jackass, you say "thank you" and in a couple days we decide if we want to go out again. Dinner does not entitle me to anything but the courtesy of having dinner and a conversation. It's up to me through communication, to help you decide if you want to see me again, and it's up to you through communication to help me decide if I want to see you again. First date is "First Contact Protocol" maybe we get together again, maybe we don't. It's an exploration of "is there potential we are both in agreement on" 11:11-11:16 when watching this movie I agreed with the first part, busted out laughing at the second part. 17:03-17:06 "Everyone thinks you're crazy, until you're right." I have also heard this as "Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to kill you." I think both apply in this movie. This movie was, for me, the perfect balance of parody, satire and serious.

Late comment. RED as an limited series (3 issues) debuted 20 years ago by Wildstorm, imprint of DC Comics. The first film was great. Very few had known of it to be based on something from DC. But it was the stsr-studded cast that brought out the masses. Very well written and directed in way that didn't feel like a comic-book. Still it was entertaining This was the final film for the late, great Ernest Borgnine (Henry). Part 2 was great too. Part 3 was announced, 10 years ago and sadly will never happen. "The Losers", based on DC's Vertigo series came out the same year as RED, months earlier. You should definitely check out that one.

Cool collaboration! That's a cool looking cat. I like the colors. Yeah Red is a DC property comic. Karl Urban is great in everything he's in. He was also in The Chronicles of Riddick. I really liked his Dredd and he was great in this movie and LOTR. I look forward to seeing him play Johnny Cage!😃

Oh, is that why he's listed in the MCU? He also played in Almost Human (2013-2014) for 13 episodes. Fox has a terrible habit of canceling SF shows. Anyway, he doesn't trust "sythetics" as one let his last partner die. In fact he was in a coma for 16 months, and found out he had received synthetic implants to save his life. As the series starts he's assigned a synthetic partner, and the fun begins.

@@Caseytify Yeah he was in the MCU forget the character but he did a good job in the one movie he was in. Yep Almost Human he was good in that series too. He was even in Xena way back.

I love many of Karl Urban's roles, but the most iconic is obviously as Billy Butcher in "The Boys"

Mary Louise Parkers best work actually is on TV. She was the main character of the long running HBO show Weeds. Her character is a widowed suburban house wife who turns to selling drugs to support her family. Its an alternately hilarious and tense look at the weirdness behind the facade of suburbia. She was absolutely brilliant in the role. Her other important film roles were in Fried Green Tomatoes and Boys on The Side. She was amazing in those films. Another one is Bullets Over Broadway where she shines throughout the movie, although i dont know how you would feel about reviewing a Woody Allen film. But i think its not only one of his best films but her performance is truly spectacular.

Max, editor, here. I was so excited that we finally got to record this reaction. There are many other movies that are amazing but don't get enough attention. We'll likely do some of them in the future as well. It's a risk, covering a film that no other channel has done, because it could end up being a dud video. These videos take a fair amount of time and money to make, but they're always fun.
