Jason Statham was a former professional diver (competitive sports), pre-film career. Of course, he would become infamous in several films including those of English filmmaker Guy Ritchie. The role of Frank Martin aka The Transporter is his first-ever lead role and jumpoff as an action star. A character who does his job with style and precision. All these movies, he abides by rules and then he kicks a** when the bad guys don't play fair. This was the creation of Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, The Professional) & Robert Mark Kamen (The Karate Kid from 1984-94). The first installment was actually by 2 directors; Hong Kong legend, Cory Yuen and 'on the rise' art director, Louis Leterrier (Fast X). A extended cut on DVD has more footage in the bus terminal fight. Besson & Kamen wrote the whole trilogy and also made other hits:Kiss of The Dragon (2001) & Unleashed (2005) with Jet Li, Colombiana (2011) with Zoe Saldana and the TAKEN franchise with Liam Neeson. Transporter 2 and 3 are really good. There was a tv series on TNT (2 seasons), not too bad. Whatever you do, please don't see the 4th film (so bad).

@@RuntotheMovies "The Fifth Element" is super-fun, maybe my favorite Bruce Willis movie and definitely my favorite Milla Jovovich movie "Lockout" was a pretty brazen rip-off of "Escape from New York/LA"... but I kinda like it better. (It's just newer, so it moves a bit faster, and Guy Pierce is phenomenal in it... can't beat Kurt Russell but Guy Pierce does a damn good job of channeling that type of character.) But, you know... Luc Besson as a person is... well, "Leon" reveals a bit more of himself than maybe he should've been comfortable sharing.

Watch all Luc Besson movies! This series, taken series, Jupiter rising, fifth element, but two u watch in order are la Femme Nikkita and Leon the Professional. Jason has a lot of good movies starting with Snatch, a movie where he's a cop, then the Expendables, then one called Jump Start I think, he has to keep jump starting his own heart, to live! The bad guy dad had bit parts in, Indiana Jones 2, and a couple badass movies....Chow Yun fat's, two movies...The corrupter and The Replacement Killers!!

Great reaction, the 3rd one is really good too, and 2 isn't bad either. I would say he is known for his fight scenes, but I wouldn't say it has anything to do with his punches as you have seen. I would say it is more about his tying people up during fights; Jackie Chan has a similar style. I believe his background is as an Olympic diver. He is in a ton of movies. I like "The Mechanic: Resurrection" (I prefer the sequel to the original), "Redemption" is also a pretty good movie, but not a lot of action scenes, He's in "The Expendables" franchise, et etcetera. Have fun.

Jason Statham was actually in the military. I really think that’s how he can do his own stunts. He nearly drowned while filming Expendables 3. They said if it wasn’t for his ability to swim so well he would have died. Nobody was able to to try and get to him.

No he wasn't he was however on the national diving team. He was an army cadet when he was a kid same as me which is a military sponsored youth program open to kids from 13 to 18 think cub scouts with an occasional trip to the range

That BMW'd easily out-run those Renaults/Peugot cop cars..Most agile, quickest and toughest the company ever made..With a Frank behind the wheel, They can really do the stunts u saw with no damage. My fav fight move-- The way he handled the 2 axe-heads..used a candle-holder, jammed thier strikes, and then double-jump kick to the chops--2 KO's in 1 move for sure. 24:20 Oh, c'mon ladies..He's only human, after all..that cute of a chick?! I couldn't say no, either...Fun seeing you drool over Statham's bod, Also loved Grammy-Winning Bassist Stanley Clarke's soundtrack (Had 3 of his LP's before this film's release.) Catch the sequels..the action/stunts get even wilder!
