I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Heston and received an autographed copy of Ben Hur a year or two before his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He recited a long passage from one of his stage parts and those of us in the room sat in awe. listening. He was a true gentleman, and I recall being shocked to see this larger than life figure stooped over a cane from arthritis as he shuffled out of the room after the interview. I stopped watching the Oscar telecast the year after he passed. I was watching the "In Memorium" portion and was disgusted that most of the audience sat on their hands, rather than applaud him when Mr. Heston's photo was displayed. Before joining the NRA, Heston was a fearless champion for equality in the early 60's and fought for civil rights. He was a good and decent man.

I think this is a valuable, respectful documentary. With questions that matter. It's nice to see how important a marriage can be. Charles Heston speaks very fondly of his wife, my respect. 'What can be cured, must be endured' says Heston at the end of this documentary.

I would just like to echo all of the previous compliments. He gave, and still continues to give pleasure from his films. More than anything, a truly decent hunan being. A film legend, never to be forgotten.

One of the greatest actors to have ever lived, such a powerful screen presence. I was just a kid when I saw PLANET OF THE APES on the big screen, Heston's portrayal of the astronaut Tayler was nothing short of perfection.

Such a dignified couple, And Mr Heston even there is a source of inspiration to us all, even more so with his bravery. God bless them both. If only more of us could be that strong , respectable and moral . I salute them both.

I had the pleasure some years ago of meeting this Hollywood icon. I can honestly say he made me feel like as if he was my fan and that he was honored to meet me. I found his kindness and humility amazing. I'll never forget that. I became a fan when I was 10 years old 50 years later I still am and always will be. "Farewell young Arias."

We (my daughter & I) met him at a book signing in about 1997 or 1998. My daughter was about 9 or 10. He was such a kind man, and obviously wanted to chat with her more than with me. She has never forgotten, and, of course, neither have I. ❤️

In 1979 -- I was fortunate to have met Mr. Heston in the Columbia Pictures Suit at that year's 'SHOW-A-RAMA' Film Convention for a movie he starred in and that his son, Fraser, had wrote entitled 'THE MOUNTAIN MEN that Columbia Pictures released. We spoke for about 5 minutes and what a gentleman he was. Taller than me -- and I was almost 6'3" -- and a class act the the Nnnth degree. He was delighted to know I had worked with his co-star Brian Keith just a year before on the then first incarnation of the Wim Wenders directed / Francis Coppola Production film 'HAMMETT' (who was, btw, replaced mid-picture by Peter Boyle so none of his scenes survived). Strange -- sad -- maddening to see a robust man like Heston in the above last interview now taking short, careful steps and standing even now shorter than Peter Jennings. This damned Alzheimer's folks ... we gotta find a cure! Not many people know Charlton Heston had, for many years, starting in the late 50's, one of the highest Top Secret clearances possible -- as he narrated many of the in-house training films for the CIA / NSA / M.I, etc. Can one imagine some of the titles he narrated for ..? "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Overthrowing a Third World Country (But Were Afraid to Ask)" Oy vey. Despite our politics being polar opposites -- I respected and still respect the man tremendously. He did so much for the movie industry and his many charities. To my knowledge of knowing other people who knew him, Mr. Charlton Heston was a man who gave his word and kept it. A man who stuck it out. A man who stayed married for 64 years. Can you imagine these boy-chik male stars / Beiber-singers these days staying married more than 2 years? No drink-drugs-no tats up and down Heston's arms ... that was a rare man, and there will very few like him again soon ... Adieu, Mr. Heston -- rest well and soar on high, D.A.

Charlton is completely unique, one of a kind. Great actor in his own right. A lovely testament to their marriage. Glad they had the courage to go public with this diagnosis. It is reality for so many others.
