Great video Kenny. Two motors are what - a thousand bucks. Expensive! But you’ve made it right. And I’m with Cameron that chirping would drive me around the bend.

I had a Schwintek motor go bad two weeks after I bought our 5th Wheel. it was replaced under warranty but the dealership didn't time the motors. Honestly, I don't think the young tech knew how because he kept telling me "that's how it's supposed to be". It took me a little while to find the information on how to do it so thanks for this video. It will be helpful to others. I read somewhere to keep the button pushed for a few seconds after the slide is all the way in or out and the motors have stopped so that's what I've done for the past year. I've had no problems so it must be fine to do what I'm doing.

I am pretty sure a tech from Schwintek told me that is ok to do that.

Great video Kenny. To get your camera to focus, cover your eyes. The camera is set to focus on your eyes.

Oh my God what a pain in the ass. I'm glad my Motors are so easy to get to. That chirping is something else. Ofcourse your right again, my slide only works off the starter battery. Thank you Don

Alright! lol I just took a course a few weeks ago on Lippert (Schwintek) slide systems. Man the tolerances on them are tight. One of my first calls was a slide room issue that was out of time. The gentleman said he would yell at his kids to "let go of the switch, you'll burn the motors up!" which eventually got it out of time. I like that tool! Will have to remember to save an old motor and make one.

Nice video Ken. I hope that you also were able to replace the battery on whatever the sensor was beeping incessantly (smoke/CO2/Propane).....🤣

Nope. Wasn’t hired to change the battery in the smoke detector. That stuff doesn’t bother me usually. It drives some people crazy.

Thanks! Always chirp learning. Seems we have the Schwintek system on our used Keystone Outback we just bought last month. So if chirp things go amiss I might know what to do now!

lol....Thanks Steve. In my house that chirping would drive me nuts, but when I am working in a customers RV, it doesn't bother me a bit. I pointed it out to the customer and he said he hadn't really noticed it.

Thanks for the instruction. How far out should I have the slide out in order to do this procedure? Or does it matter? I'm guessing that most of the way out could make it easier. But what do you advise? Also, is it better to go ahead and replace the motors before there is a problem, or should I use them until they stop working?

Yes, most of the way out is easiest and No, I wouldn't replace until it is necessary. You could have them on hand in case you need them.

What do you recommend to lube the tracks on a Schwintek slide?

Nothing. They are meant to be dry.

My slide is in with a dead motor. Is there anyway to open the slide to access the retaining screw? I've disconnected power to the dead motor, but can't get the slide to budge.

You have to raise the motor up to disengage it. The only way that I have found to get to that screw is drill a hole in the aluminum faisha right over the screw. Just put a dab of the correct color silicone in the hole.

@@hillbillyrv Thank you. Ended up doing this and using a hole plug for the facia and weather strip. It is a bad design, but got it out. The old motor was very wet and rusted (which is why it quit working) so the next project is to find and fix the water intrusion.

I would think, looking @ those motors and seeing that they were wet, wouldn't it be wise to investigate the cause? I mean, at least that's what I would do so the dang motors don't get wet again and the slide doesn't get water damaged.👍 The wire looked like it broke off from corrosion.

Where those motors live, there should be no way in the world they could get wet, but they do. The customer said he was going to investigate the water issue himself.

From my experience the camper wasn’t leveled properly. The water was most likely running under the wiper seal hitting the nobar and diverting to the two sides the way it was designed to do but because of the tilt it was running down the inside over the motors. That’s why you had 2 bad motors which almost never happens.
