As a European above 50, what I like about this scene (or other chase scenes from 1970s Italian movies) is that there are real cars that we saw on the streets when we were young. Bullit chase scene might be magnificent, but for me the Mustang and the Charger belong to an alien world, I never saw one in the flesh. But a FIAT 124 special T and an Opel Rekord are perfectly integrated in my cultural background.

The drivers in this scene are Jean-Paul Belmondo (though in some cuts, it's driven by Rémy Julienne instead) on the red Fiat and Rémo Mosconi on the black Opel, however they used like ten different cars in the making of this scene (you can see it by the different angles of the rearview mirror and the shape of both cars in some cuts), but they are all painted red on the Fiat and black on the Opel so it's not too noticeable.

Though there are many caa manufacturers all over the world, the fiats had a special place among the manufacturers of cars! Not just fiat, the lambrettaa, vespa, alfa romeo etc. had a good reputation around the globe! The movie was : "Fear over the City" 1975, also made by Henri Verneuil! A legendary scene in which J.P. Belmondo walked on the roof of a metro in motion in Paris!
