New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our daughter Puck and toddler Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Five years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home.

Love your dresses Leah. A garden does not have to look perfect, I find your gardens lovely and I can understand you doing one or two tasks in the garden as sometimes I too find my gardening overwhelming me and I do not know but this year seems to be a bit harder than usual for me to get into gardening. Love seeing you and the children and they are growing so quickly. Did Bo hurt his leg ? boys will be boys. Have a lovely day.

Sorry to hear gardening is harder for you this year. Can you make it smaller? Yes Bo hurt his leg, so we kept a bandage over to keep it clean. All good now!

Lea, thanks so much for sharing your daily life. Your garden and crops are looking great. Love the trellises. We finally decided years ago to put fench rows for the tomatoes and cucumbers. We use the metal fence post and hog wire. It helps so much. So happened we had extra post and wire from making the goat pens. The children are so adorable and a great help. They already know a lot about gardening and tending to the animals. Take care and many blessings to all of you! Janice from Arkansas USA

What is perfection? Your garden provides what it is suppose to and that is its main job. I was just thinking how good your garden looked and how relaxed you appear working with the kids, teaching them how to do things etc. I admire you. My best time of the day is when I am in my garden. God Bless to your family.🥰🥰🥰🥰

I was also going to be reviewing reolink,, but unfortunately the box arrived just 6 hours after I left,, so now the nice and very undestanding reolink product manager, will have to wait until September :-) Luckily I had been very upfront with my little window for doing this,, but I do feel bad,, I do like to hold up my end. 🙂 But I look even more forward to it now,, seeing your reviews,, I picked the Reolink TrackMix Wired LTE, which is a Smart 2K Wired 4G LTE Dual-Lens PTZ Camera with 24/7 Recording. (waiting for me in a box 😞) It is much like the first reolink you reviewed,, but with a moving head,, I had picked up a SIM and SD card for it,, the wet dream, was to be able to log on and see how me house was doing,, on the many gray days here. Dream away with Reolink!! 🙂

Nice to see the work with the beehives. I remember loving to go to the Beienhuis in Wageningen when studied there. I enjoy seeing your garden. I suggest that you keep some of your beans for seed to see how much better they do than the seed you import. You will not know unless you try. If I were having trouble with cucumbers getting too hot I would stick some bushy branches in the dirt where it would give them some light shade at about 3 pm. I hope you have a pleasant summer.

@@ourportuguesehomestead The big reason to plant seeds from your land is because plants change , both randomly and to adapt to their surroundings. Developing a strain of plant better matched to your conditions is done this way and the pay off is a strain that gives you a bigger amount of food to eat or a better quality of food. It is most important to keep seeds of your plants that were grown from seeds that came from further away and also from the plants that are having trouble preforming. Solving this puzzle is demanding of your intellect, gardening is not a simple thing. About the protestant work ethic and mental health: I was taught that God made humans for the purpose of showing joy in his creations. When I have lost someone I love it has been very difficult for me to feel joy but it is why I was made and is the very best way to praise God.

Don't be ashamed to use current technology to create less friction in your life. I get what you're saying but a lot of that stuff feels so fake like performative authenticity. The purists of off grid content are a toxic bunch and more like role-playing but you are living it and I don't blame you a bit for dishwasher or machines. Always strive for balance and being puritanical just for puritanical sake is just willful work fetishists. If it don't fit you, it don't fit you. Yes, it used to be harder but who cares? IF you do, I have laundry to do in a bucket so pitch in or shut up. Live and let live.
