Kevin Cyr is an Inspector with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and is the current commander of the RCMP Emergency Response Team in British Columbia, which is the second largest tactical unit in Canada. Kevin has been with the RCMP for 22 years and has been with the team for 7 years. He has a master’s in law from Osgoode Hall Law School and is published internationally in law and criminology journals. He also teaches incident command at the Canadian Police College.

HARP teams were the start on the RCMP program as a result of the Montreal Olympics. HARP was started with the aid of the SAS. From HARP created ERT, as ERT continued, the SERT unit was created for a very specific CT role. After a government decision RCMP SERT responsibility was turned over to the Canadian Military in their own program. ERT program progressed from a part time program, full time program were created in 5 regions of the country while part time teams continue and are still in play. Slightly different history listed vs mentioned yet in the same direction. Old dogs remember some of those old details vs these younger officers LoL. “O” Div A-9. Good interview well spoken

Is the Victoria one full time or part time ? How many members do they have ?

@@wdewilde1361 Victoria area RCMP is not full time last checked but well trained and continuously training their skill sets
