Nice to see the Votann forming Speed Mobs. The Scout + move speed of Bikes/Sagitaur always surprises people at my LGS. Especially compared to the 5" movement of the infantry.

Yup definitely very surprising and not a common archetype we typically see with votann. I will never be able to try it because I can’t bring myself to get more than 6 bikes, so hopefully it doesn’t catch on too well 😅

one thing to notice is that terrain in Europe is predominantly WTC maps ... WTC maps are a different beast altogether than US. A lot of terrain for units to hide, not a lot of shooting lanes ...

Really enjoying your videos as a newcomer to 40K. I’m building my Army and keep referring to these videos to help me decide. I prefer the more ‘tanky’ lists but this was an interesting one.

Lone E champs are great trading units. Tried it once and it does work well against small vehicles and monsters or other lone characters. Trades well, gives JT on death obviously and it's cheap. I'd probably be hiding the one with appraising glare though to keep that ability up while kinda guarding an area of the board

That’s really interesting, I haven’t considered using him solo like that before but it makes a lot of sense when you consider the mass hammer profile. It’s only 3 attacks but into some light vehicles, that’s all it takes

Champion can't go into Sagitaur, so they definitely didnt go there

Great vid, as always! Now, this list had me wonder about the maths of 2 sag vs 1 hek. Bc 2 sag move much faster, have 18W vs 16W, but at a worse save, transport the same, minus heavies which you could argue can go and tp crest/strat reserves, or trudge up, the 2 sag have the same twin bolters (3+3 vs 6 shots), and really it boils down to beamer vs double hylas. Hylas having the 2 extra str and extra ap and double the shots but beamer is more reliable dmg.... maybe you could make like a YTshort series on quick maths like this, stuff that isnt an entire value breakdown but simple dmg/survivability comparisons.

That’s a great question and one I think many are wondering post dataslate. I think it’s a fair comparison to make. Like you said, there are some very clear trade offs between the two and I think the fact that we were such diverse lists speaks volumes to the viability of either option. I think it ultimately comes down to your list design and what roles you need filled. What have you been leaning towards?

@VotannVersus40K personally, i run 2 hek, and 2 sag with missles. I play mostly narrative/local non comp games, so i run a ymir conglomerate theme with heavy hek, brokhyr, and hearthguard presence. Nothing nearly as refined or thoughtful as the lists you examine haha.

@jessierine3981 that’s awesome! I would love to join a narrative league if I could find one near me. That’s pretty similar to what I run, being the two HLFs and two sagitaurs, but I use the Hylas instead. The land forts do work and are so hard to shift!

@VotannVersus40K Yeah, i have 2 sag with 5 hearthkyn ea. to basically immediately disembark for deep strike security. Now, since your video, i've actually toyed around with a double zerk hek bc i respect the fellas a lot more now. Hearing trade piece is one thing, seeing the nutty dmg they produce is another.

@@VotannVersus40K I second a comparison like that. The output of 2 sags vs 1 heka, possibly survivability as well. Even something like a comparison of Beserks vs Hearthguard on damage output and point for point value would be cool too.

it's not uncommon to see einyr stuck in reserves or deep strike when playing tactical for scoring behind enemy lines, investigate signals, engage on all fronts and then being a problem to deal with as they're toting a lascannon in hammer form and are still t6 so not super easy to kill.
