Hola, I am Maria! Watch this video almost entirely in Catalan to get a more of a "real flavour" of what Catalan is like :)
2 caveats!
- The level of this video is considerably higher than most of the other ones
- My equipment is not fully prepared for recording outside (especially if it is windy!). BEAR WITH ME ;)

Oh this is sweet. Different verb tenses, useful fixed expressions in context, tons of new vocabulary and recap of old lessons. There is a lot to digest here. Thanks!

@@learncatalanfrombarcelona7756 Lesson 99% assimilated. I can see I underestimated the difference between "tenir" and "haver". Previously, I had assumed a dichotomy like Spanish, but Catalan looks like it has more uses for "haver" than expected. I don't quite get the nuance yet, but I remember seeing expressions like "he d'anar" elsewhere. Maybe an idea for a future video? :)

Moltes gràcies, I like this format, natural and well articulated conversation, simple and most useful vocabulary and subtitles. It bridges the gap between beginner level introduction to the language videos, and vlogs from native speakers for native speaking or fluent audiences.

Here, from Portugal. I would love if you make all videos you speaking only in catalan (also with subtitles in catalan and english, like this). We would learn much more ;) I still impressed with many words that are almost the same or really the same in portuguese, that in spanish are more different. Example: "Antiga" is exactly the same word and pronunciation in portuguese. In spanish I think is "Antigua".

@lukedutch9532
@lukedutch9532 3 жыл бұрын
Hola!

Genial dia, Maria!
@learncatalanfrombarcelona7756

"Aleshores" té un significat temporal (then, in that moment). Però també es podria utilitzar en un sentit més general com dient: "and then, what do we do?" / "i aleshores, què fem?".

Very interesting Maria Bella 👍👌🤟👏👏 I will watch it over and over many times! Thanks for this lovely video 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 One thing that surprised me was how fast you were talking! Is that how you normally talk or just when you’re talking during a monologue? It almost sounded like a shortened or coded language! Like the way someone talks if they don’t want others to fully understand what the conversation is about 🤔?

Hola Haben! Merci pel comentari and very glad you enjoyed it :) I would actually say we tried to keep it a bit slower than usual, but as it was a rather natural and spontaneous conversation it went a bit faster than initially planned 🙈🙈 But that is always the impression when you are learning a language, isn't it? I remember myself being at school and trying to do "listening" exercices in English and always thinking that it is spoken really fast ;)

Learn Catalan from Barcelona Thanks Maria. You are right that new languages always seem faster than ‘normal’ but I think Catalan is faster than usual because (I think) you use a lot of creative ways to condense your message• I agree that you tried to talk slowly with your sister, but I was referring to your monologue, which was awesome, but it seemed like you were chatting to a Catalan speaking audience. Which is fine, if I want to learn a language, I need to be familiar with how it is spoken ☝️ But I think it’s best to let us know in advance if you will talk at normal speed (for you) or be slower than usual. BTW I completely agree with the above comment that this was super helpful and super informative. I find it annoying that there aren’t many Catalan films with English subtitles (ITunes? Netflix? What’s up?) So this is a dream come true 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
