@TwoGuysTimberframing My buddy Goerge and I do some milling up here in Northeast Ohio. George has a Wood-mizer LT15 Wide, and I'm using the 130MAX. We help each other out. His channel is Middlefield Customer Sawmill. Let me know where you guys are located. We would definitely collaborate with you guys on an episode or two. Peace. Nate Bissell

I agree wholeheartedly! This is my favorite timber framing / sawmilling channel. I learn so much every episode (& I'm bad about watching the same episodes over & over, & still learn something new each time!). Please keep up putting out great content! BTW We're in the same area. Hopefully our paths will cross someday, & I'll get to meet y'all.

This is exactly what I've been waiting for. My step dad, brothers, and I are going to be starting a sawmill shed by my barn soon, so this is perfect timing. The way you set up the winch is genius.

Great idea and setup! by far less expensive than most options. Harder to do for off-grid/remote locations unless you have an alternator/generator to power the winch, but still doable. Technically this isn't automated though, as you are still performing the functions manually, so it's more mechanized more than anything.
@TwoGuysTimberframing2 ай бұрын
True it is Mechanical! Truck winches are 12 volt just use your battery! No power No Problem! Solar Charger! I have worked years in the back country. This has never failed us! Thanks for watching and commenting! See ya soon!❤🤠

I've got the same setup but with a much smaller winch. I have no problem rolling logs large enough to max out the mill with a 3000 lb winch.
@TwoGuysTimberframing2 ай бұрын
That’s Good Im glad it works for you. To max out your mill are you cutting Pine or Oak?🤠👍
@manunle2 ай бұрын
@@TwoGuysTimberframing I live in the burn scar of the caldor fire in California. I have fir, pine, cedar, and a little oak. I've done them all over the last two years. Started out just using the overhead winch for turning the logs and a separate winch for rolling them up on the mill. Realized a couple of months ago, I could do both with just the overhead winch. I have a wireless remote on the winch so if the log gets a little wonky on the ramps, I can sit on my tractor and lift one end while operating the winch. I don't have any helpers so I've needed to figure out how to do it solo.
@TwoGuysTimberframing2 ай бұрын
Your Awesome! We’ve been cutting this way for years like I said on my video it was the winch from my truck but with all our big Oak logs I put the strain on it as well A little bit bigger winch and you might not have to use your tractor but I’m really glad it works for you as well it works great for us! Stayed tuned we got more stuff coming your way! 🤠👍
@TwoGuysTimberframing2 ай бұрын
I’m sorry buddy I miss read your message but that’s a good idea with the tractor instead of using the second winch don’t really need that much anyway. I spent over 20 years in the Arizona backwoods and I’ve actually used this method and carved it in the live trees and work myself. We had a lot of ponderosa pine and juniper I’ve been lucky enough to move to Tennessee and I’m loaded with oak big oak. Thanks for sharing I’m sure there’s more of us out there that figured out how to use it with the overhead Winch nice job!👍🤠

Hey, can you give a more detailed video about your sawmill shed itself? It looks perfect to me, and I'd like to replicate it in every way. Curious about the tree's used(especially where the winch is mounted). Are these tree's that were already on the property? Or did you bury them in the ground yourself and if so how deep? With cement? An entire overview would be great. Love the channel, learned a lot.
@TwoGuysTimberframing20 күн бұрын
Ok I will try and put something together for that. All of the trees used were from my property. All White Oak except for roof rafters. Oak beam in center for winch support. Not buried in the ground sit on 24” piers of cement with a rod in center going up the post. Thanks for Watching and we will put something up for you. Or you can always touch base on Facebook if you have more specific questions I can answer for you. 🤠👍
@oldaxehead65515 күн бұрын
@@TwoGuysTimberframing Thank you. What exactly do you mean "rod in center"? I've seen it done so many ways, I want to see the way you personally accomplish it. I would love more detail here. I'm worried about my winch strength. Also, dimensions would be fantastic. Looks like 20x12? Can't say for sure, but I have the exact same mill, and I love your setup. Thanks for the response!
@TwoGuysTimberframing15 күн бұрын
@@oldaxehead655 I will do it We are Planing on Filming it Next Week so it will take a couple of weeks before it out there. But I will go into detail and how it works. Thanks for reaching out! 👍🤠

@@TwoGuysTimberframing Sounds awesome. I can't wait to see how you guys think through cutting the joinery for a timber frame on the Woodland Mills. It makes incredible sense, but I don't think I've seen anyone else do it on KZfaq.
