Hi. Thank you for this beautiful beading stitch. I absolutely love it. I use 11/0 seed beads. I like using this size as it makes my bracelets look lacy and delicate. You explain the technique very well and it's easy to follow. I am looking for more beafing techniques. I am a "craft junkie ". I knit, crochet, cross stitch, loom beading and diamond painting. I am looking into basket weaving. I am 65 years old and have a lot of time on my hands. I look through KZfaq for different ideas on ll my crafts that I do. Keep up the excellent work.

Hi Angela! Another name for Pondo Stitch is African Circle Stitch or Point Africain Circle. The name 'Pondo stitch' came from Nick Kap and Susan Mandel who identified this weaving technique among the Mpondo tribe in South Africa and then shared it in a magazine for the general public. There are several versions of the stitch and the one Leah is demoing here is the easy simplified version. It is quite different from Chenille stitch but has some similarities with Right Angle Weave as mentioned in the video. Thanks for watching!

This is not Pondo Stitch. This is RIght Angle Weave.
@EurekaCrystalBeads
@EurekaCrystalBeads 2 ай бұрын
There is a differnce between the two, actually! You can go to 6:10, Leah is talking a little bit about it there. In a nutshell, it's the number of beads per segment (4 in RAW, 8 in Pondo), and the way the segments are connected; in RAW, each 4-bead segment is connected to the next one sharing one of the 4 beads, and the 4-bead 'squares' are connected with one side bead, basically creating a pattern of 4-bead squares. In Pondo, each 8-bead segment is connected to the other sharing one of the _extra_ 4 beads, not the main 4. Hope this helped
@caththomas5152
@caththomas5152 Ай бұрын
@@EurekaCrystalBeads Thank you. I know that. It still is RAW. Pondo stitch is a stitch where, just as in Brick stitch, one passes under the threads of the previous row to add a new set of beads. This here is a variation somebody at Perles and co thought would be a *better* Pondo (their words). It's undeniably RAW here. Not Pondo.

Please don't say, "Again, you can skip this bead if you want to, or you can go through it if you want to, it won't make any difference..." etc. etc. even one more time, or, "Now this is where you might have trouble if you can't get RAW out of your brain, " ever, ever again, because one day someone is going to play this tutorial and never stop screaming and bashing her head against the monitor screen until she dies.

lol don't watch it if you don't like it. I personally like to know the intricacies of the technique because knowing where going though all beads or just some doesn't matter makes you more of an expert, you understand how it WORKS. And the inserts concerning RAW give me time to complete the step that was just shown in my own pace without pausing.
@Raina6465

@@TheCrimsonPope Dear Pope, I do appreciate your POV. I taught computer skills (college level) and there are several major ways that people learn, and probably as many unique ways as there are learners. You can probably hit the space bar if you need to pause to complete your stitch, and if you need me to repeat that six times, you can hit the "back" button as many times as you like. PS: I would enjoy beading together with you. I think you are cool.
