I went to school for Lithography printing essentially before everything went digital. Ended up getting a job in a screen shop that did cards. I worked mostly pre and post production. I am in a Band and wanted to take over making our merch to save some money. Lucked into a good deal on some equipment and came to youtube to refresh my brain piece on the processes. I have to say, I have watched quite a few different T Shirt shop youtubes but this is by far the best. So much good info, so much trial and error caught on film, and your fucking attitude is 100% in line with my group of friends so I feel a connection. So essentially what I am saying, this content is making me feel confident in just doing this shit.

I use soy based press wash but still use easyway as well. I do all of my reclaiming and degreasing outside as we don’t have a washout booth yet. It does help with the chemical smell and splash back. One hack I do use is I place the screens on two sawhorses, and they have notches in the top that screens fit satisfyingly well into.

If you can’t afford a more expensive pressure washer, the green one that harbor freight sells works really well. You can get it for about $80. Sometimes it takes work to get really hard emulsion off, but works waaaaay better than just a hose and nozzle.

The cheaoy ones are all the same, they work for awhile and eventually bust. But I agree go cheap on your first one then you can upgrade when the time comes.

Great tip about drenching the tape so it doesn’t stick to the garbage bag. I used paper bags from the grocery store to throw my tape away and they stick less to the paper. I’m using Franmar Bean-E-Doo for an ink degradent and CCI EnvironStrip for emulsion remover. The EnvironStrip has had zero issues reclaiming several emulsions I was testing. I have been testing CCI VPR, Chromaline ChromaBlue, Chromaline ChromaLime, and my local supplier, Atlas Screen Supply, Orangeworks. All of them reclaimed with ease using EnvironStrip and its non hazardous. And I’m using CCI The Pink Stuff as my De-Hazer/De-Greaser

Hey mate. Obviously the dip tanks that made a name a few years back are now being used for water storage. I use a product called american eagle to dehaze and degrease it comes as a paste and is caustic asf we dilute with water to 50% very strong still.

Great video. Man, I really need to get those chemicals to reclaim. I live in a small city in southern Mexico, they don't sell screen printing chemicals. We have to rely on Gasoline to remove ink and bleach to reclaim. It works but takes a lot bit longer than using those chemicals you're using. They sell Easiway products in Mexico City. Still need to save up so I can get a hold of them. Will make reclaiming a lot smoother.

It is way more expensive, I wish manufacturers would get the cost down abit, but the benifits are huge, 1 less step so there is time savings, it dries faster, produces cleaner lines, way less pinholes....

I love your channel! You have taught me a lot! I was wondering if you can answer some questions? After cleaning my screen with the press wash I noticed the ink would not properly pass through the screen anymore? You have any ideas why that may happen? Maybe too much press wash or I have to rinse it after with water to make sure its no presswash on the screen? also do you have to clean the ink off the screen after every use? Even if you are using the same color? I noticed that when I left my ink on the screen for some days it hardened on the screen and fresh ink would not pass through properly so I had to clean the screen with press wash even though I was using the same color :(
@gearjammermedia4220

I wouldn't leave ink on the screen for more then a day just to be safe since its easy to clean off...if you are leaving it on tho I'd imagine flooding the screen with ink is a safe way to go just to keep air off of it. Are you sure you have press wash or is it just a general plastisol ink cleaner because there is a difference. The general ink cleaner can leave a film on the screen...was an issue for us as we didn't know there was a difference 🤣
4 жыл бұрын
