keep in mind that they deliberately picked out words that are "hard to pronounce", i.e. containing consonants and sounds that aren't common in other languages, which is probably why they sound "harsh" to your ears.

Very nice video. I worked for a Jewish family business years ago. They were so generous, kind and wonderful to include all of us at the office in celebrating their Jewish holidays. I find Hebrew fascinating (yet so difficult to learn!). Right now I'm just trying to work on greetings; but just had to peek and see what the 10 hardest words are.

To be honest these aren't really the hardest words in Hebrew they are pretty basic actually... maybe the pronunciation could get hard for some English speakers that don't have the ch/h/kh sounds.

Those are beautiful words! I love how ones such as to rub (לשפשף) are onomatopoeic. It reminds me on Victoria Hanna explaining that the appearance of Hebrew words and letters don't separate from their meaning, and that speaking them is choreography in your mouth!

Those are very basic words in Hebrew, so you can be 100% sure she knows them... Although it seems to be very hard to pronounce some because of the ch/h/kh sounds you can get by by pronouncing them as a hard h in English or a softer version of them in Hebrew (as most fast hebrew peakers do).

@shevetlevi2821
@shevetlevi2821 4 жыл бұрын
For me the resh is a tough letter, and 2 resh in quick succession, such as L'shachrer (to release) or m'shoochrar (passive form of release) forces me to give up and just say it with a heavy American accent.
@Abilliph
@Abilliph 2 жыл бұрын
The Hebrew r sound is almost soundless, you shouldn't make it too strong. I had a much bigger problem with the American r, I was never able to say error.
@shevetlevi2821
@shevetlevi2821 2 жыл бұрын
@@Abilliph Accents are interesting. The bottom line is whether or not you can be understood. I've noticed that Israelis with heavy accents have trouble with the "th" sound; they'll say the word thief, as tief. That makes sense as there are no Hebrew letters that you can put together to make that sound.

First of all, very nice video! I wanted to ask you if there are any websites or platforms where I can find translations of lyrics in hebrew. I have discovered just right now an israeli band (הקליק) and I would really like to know what they say. Thanks for the eventual answer! p.s.: if there are no good websites for the translations, can anybody tell me what " אמא אני לו רוצה להיגמל" means? Thanks
@123zokomoko
@123zokomoko 8 жыл бұрын
I guess you meant to write אמא אני לא רוצה להגמל לא = no לו = him Without more context it can mean the following: Mom I don't want to outgrow (from diapers) אמא אני לא רוצה להגמל (מחיתולים) Something a (speaking) baby might say his mom. Mom I don't want to stop using (drugs) אמא אני לא רוצה להגמל מסמים I tried my best but English is not my mother's tongue
@MarcoJako1
@MarcoJako1 8 жыл бұрын
+not available don't worry about the English, you were very clear and I understood everything I needed to know! Toda Raba! anyway, to understand the context, here's the song text:
@123zokomoko
@123zokomoko 8 жыл бұрын
You're welcome :) So I'd go with the first option The verb להגמל means to stop an addiction. When a baby is born, he needs his mother's milk to survive, so in Hebrew we sort of say he's addicted to it. After a certain point this addiction ceases to be, the baby overcame the addiction.
@MarcoJako1
@MarcoJako1 8 жыл бұрын
So basically the title means that the guy who's talking to his mother is telling her that he doesn't want to stop drinking the milk from her? Ahah (in fact the album cover shows the naked members of the band while looking at a breast) Thanks again!
