Tom- hi! I truly appreciate how you ever so slightly- lightly- touch on music theory throughout your videos. I first stumbled upon your Maple Leaf Rag tutorial series which is *exceptional*- what really sets apart all of your videos is that you explain the key and chord structure- it’s not always “fun” to try to understand these elements but it truly catapults your growth if one can make a tiny effort over time. So- thank you! Truly a gift to students worldwide! ☺️

Amazing explanation man! I received my piano about 4 days ago and learned twinkle twinkle little star (Mozart theme) as a way to get my familiar with the keys and about a day ago I decided to do this piece and was having trouble having the notes played the moment they needed to be played and thankfully I found you! Now I can play the first section pretty fluently!! Thank you!! You earned a sub!

Thank you for the video , I just have a question, why don't you "hold" the left hand chords at the top (A minor, D minor, C major, G7) until you finish playing all the semiquavers in the right hand and how can I do that while keeping the left hand staccato and leggieremente?
@KeyboardSkillsPro
@KeyboardSkillsPro 4 жыл бұрын
The left hand is played in a detached (light staccato) style for effect against the right hand slurs. The crotchet then sounds like a Quaver. Practice each bar to get the articulation down. Thanks for watching - Tom!

Aha interesting... well I think you might know about these very tiny notes (like demiquavers) kind of atached to a main note and I'm curious how they marry up with the left hand. I saw them played by a russian lady and I didn't catch because the tend to be rather fast... impossible to connect the two. So hopefully you might be able to solve this mistery for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for watching. Little notes are played first and often around a main note - this is called a Turn... but could also be a Trill or a decoration of sorts. Hi I personally don’t find it hard...The Am and C chords are similar due to the latter chord being in 2nd inversion. Keep playing the left hand on its own to learn the movement of be chords.
