A fantasy flight card game that you can get into for $10, without having to buy any extras to experience the full game? Never would have guessed that one

So it's a TDG, Trading Deck Game.

I think this is one of the best “getting into” videos you guys have done so far. Would love a video that was “our favourite decks so far” where you each share a deck you’ve enjoyed and why that is 🙂

Back in the late 90s when I first saw MTG in my friendly local comic store, this is exactly what I thought it was, but without the randomness.

I’m excited to get into KeyForge casually. With such a low barrier to entry it looks like a fun way to mix up game night with a few pickup games, each with different decks!

I ordered the starter set. It's not bad value for money on the Internet since I paid about $33 for it and get 2 $10 decks, rules, tokens and 2 non-unique decks. Not a bad value I think. Not necessary, but not a bad price I figure.

Remember it's not impossible for no 2 decks to be the same, because although the decks are somewhat random, I'm sure there are also rules applied to the system for deck creation, and one of those rules sounds like it's that the deck must be unique. If two decks are alike, it sounds like it would be a manufacturing error. it sounds to me like the system is created for this to not happen.

Looking forward to see what the tokens you make for the game will look like.

So im not allowed to mix cards from different decks? Oh boy if thats true count me in.

Preordered the starter set and the two player mat. Can't wait for this game! Hopefully others will join me at my local card shops

I am really digging this concept. If the game play is good this could be Garfield's second best game he has ever designed(Maybe number one, I hope) I really really like the unique deck concept! Did I say really? If not, then Really!

Just started playing and I love the game so far. The big problem without card games is the cost to get a decent deck, I can see that happening here sooner or later especially if the game gets bigger than it is but as of right now it seems pretty great. But I'm guessing if the game gets as big as other card games that's going to happen here too.

Thank you for making this video. I have the same feeling hearing about this game and getting the starter set. The prospect of getting a completely unique set from a pack won me over, before I fully understood what the game was. Well that and the $10 price tag. 😊 I think that's the most appealing aspect of this game to me, that I don't have to buy multiple core sets in order to play or make my deck more viable, like in most LCGs. Plus don't have to worry about haggling prices or card trades for singles. 😆 I have a few questions, when will Keyforge be released? When might we be able to purchase tokens through your website?

Will your token sets be ready for release? Getting a display box + a set of Covenant tokens sounds like a super enticing alternative to a core set

Need to see those tokens! The spoiler of the Aember has me very intrigued.

According to FFG, they have added a few checks to make sure there is a 0% chance that any two decks will be the same.

If you are new to the game but want a display how will we know which houses work best for us or we would like most? Is there a guide to their game play styles and how they relate to other games such as Magic?

Not having much luck getting them where I live unfortunately. Many places either don't carry the cards or are already sold out.

I watched the entire video and I did not see "where to buy" keyforge. Amazon says it is on pre-order until January 1st 2019......

Quick question are constant effects available to both players or the player who owns the card? Example constant effect on house shadow customs office #285 and speed sigil #293.

Talking about the set. So bacsiclly if you buy the set number 1 i shouldnt buy set number 1 again right? I thought all the decks are different. Or it's just different names but the same cards.

My question would be: how many different cards are there? I understand that they are infinite cards based on stats; but what about art? How many different cards are they?

Do you need stun tokens? Just have the card upside down, rotate to exhausted as an action.

No two decks are the same? As in they do not sell duplicates of any individual decks?

Bought my first deck and ... I hate the name. :( Sad because I wanted to be one-and-done, but now I feel I can’t.

I can't wait to spend $10 for a deck I don't like... then another $10... then another... and another...

I'm interested, but cautious...the game (from what I've seen) seems like it is all over the place beyond the factions and win comditions, that and FF have been disappointing in my eyes with the stuff they have been cancelling. But the Team Covenant learn to play vids have been interesting and I would, at keast like to give it a try.

when is this game going to show up in game stores?

This is an awful business model for any sort of hardcore/competitive play. looks like a game you can play at a friendly meeting or with a younger sibling but nothing more than that. No complexity, constructing or meta, just casual fun. Not for me, but it's probably a good starting point for ccg newcomers

So what stops you from building your own deck based off of let's say four decks you buy?

How I imagine the Product Development meeting went down: ANA Exec. #1: "Our quality is in the toilet. We are seeing random cards end-up in decks without matching houses. WHAT DO WE DO?!?" ANA Exec. #2: "Easy. We call them "mavericks" and tell customers that that they were intentionally populated that way with a very limited frequency. It's a feature, man!" ANA Exec. #1: "Noice. Send the memo to Marketing. Let's break for lunch!"

Man, that's cool this game was made by the guy who made magic, but the artwork is not nearly as cool. I was playing this game, at a shop, and then I looked over at the magic cards which I haven't played in Forever. The magic cards were just so cool and exciting it just got my heart pumping. Then I looked over at the key Forge cards.. But I suppose this could change over time. I really liked a couple of the Martians. But that's about it. I really like the one where he's got smoke going into his nose and he just looks like he's got some evil plan. Those aliens are cute. But that's about the extent of it.

It's sad for me to say it but... I think I'd stick with normal TCGs than peek at this. And there are several reasons. 1) This might be a CCG but it's clear if you ever want a new deck it will be another 10 and another 10 and you might end up with nearly all the same cards as the last one without even knowing and those decks stay stuck together like planetary magnets: the moment they come together...nearly impossible to get apart. 2) Even if this is from the same person that has crafted the most well-known card game in existence... the gameplay seems too simple for him. Only calling out one of the houses and playing all of that house in one turn seems like it's just giving people Agro a lot without paying which feels like the battle is an afterthought. (likely is) And the fact that the goal is to get the 3 keys which are only 18 points in groups of 6 makes it that you aren't doing much to gain other than either stealing or gathering and not affecting the opposing soul that you are against. 3) This feels like all of them are nitpicks but when the only customization is through getting a different deck means that being really competitive can get out of control because one is purchasing so many or buying from the second-hand market to get at the top of the game. Which can make someone a killing and likely it won't be the ones who make the game. So excuse me for thinking Mr. Garfield might have goofed up on this one but even the father of all games might have flaws. This is kind of a rant from an old card gamer but if this is the 'future' of cardboard experiences, I might wanna say no.

I'm very concerned about the business model in competitive play. The gameplay looks solid, but since there is in fact a limited cardpool, there will be a "meta" of the most competitive decks. Competitive players will be forced to buy massive number of packs in order to get decks that contain enough of the meta cards to be competitive... it's basically lootboxes taken to the real world.

Why buy 1 when you can buy 12!?!?!

Way to upsell! Make people unaware of what they're buying so they have to buy more in order to increase their chances of getting what they want lol.
