Jannie, great little project. I was impressed with lettering. The fonts were preserved through the burning process. I guess that just comes with practice. I’m a neophyte pyro, but I’ll keep trying.

Thanks. Noob leathercrafter here. The carbon paper seems way easier than the traditional case the leather, trace pattern onto tracing film, then trace onto the cased leather as if leather carving. I got a Red Bird Trade Etsy leather corset pattern and she burns to look like bark. Oh well, did it the hard way. Wonder how my tracing grooves will look in the end.

Does it matter the type of leather wallet or can I use any leather wallet?

It needs to be vegetable tanned leather. If you can’t verify that it’s veg tan, then it’s possible, you could be burning dyes that create toxic chemicals and you don’t want to breathe that in.
