11:17 these were my actual drill instructors and this was my platoon....I remember on the first day we started training I noticed out of the corner of my eye for a literal split second that there was a camera man following the DI"s around and thought to myself...shit, it's being taped. Spent years looking for the clips and here they are, even though only bits and pieces. What memories...but scared to death at the same time!

I'm a retired Army E-9/SGM, the Army use to be like this until they got weak, glad to see Marines keeping the Infantry knowledge that should be trained.

Everything i learned in bootcamp at MCRD, San Diego, CA. 1968 came into play when i served in Vietnam. 1969. The stress i was under i would reflect what our Drill Instructors drilled into us recruits and everything they told and taught us was true. Vietnam was brought up daily and how one should react in different situations. Mental toughness, mental toughness 24/7 in the Nam.

1st Marine Division, Vietnam 1969, Catkiller 0864, Foward Observer. Went through boot camp when I was 16, changed my life. I will always remember the brothers I left behind, RIP PFC Stephen (Squeaky) KIA 1970 fellow F. O.

I thank God everyday I became a Marine! I was Charlie Company, platoon 1001 back in 2004. I love all of my brothers especially my boys of Charlie Battery at Camp Lejeune. Semper Fi!

The Marines have landed, a simple phrase but when the enemy hears it they know it's over, Belleau was never supposed to be taken, Wake Island should have been easy, and Iwo Jima impossible, but some young man and his brothers instilled with all that comes from earning that eagle globe and anchor just would not quit, at at his side was a legion of ghosts an invisible spirit on leave from street guard duty in heaven, Marines are born and raised in hell in preparation for hell, but they are guaranteed their final post guarding the streets in heaven. It is not a branch it is a breed, there is no song because miraculous deeds require a hymn. "God, Corps, Country".

I graduated from boot camp at age 29. I was a road guard for Moses. I severed mess duty at the last supper. These were just a few things thrown at me during those 13 weeks.

Unless you’ve been there, you can’t fully understand. When I stepped on the yellow foot prints, it never stopped until I graduated. When I went home I woke up at 4:00am everyday. I still do that to this day. For me, I was forever changed and could not be unchanged. I served 5 years. I was around all the other services. When you leave Marine Corps Bootcamp you are never the same. The other services never break down the individual. They are the same as they were before they went in. They are civilians in a uniform.

The Gospel: JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. All you have to do to be saved is: Believe in JESUS, trust in HIS blood. JESUS did everything for you, no works are required for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)!.

Due to covid never had leave or a family reunion

I have to disagree. When I got home from bootcamp, I fell right back into bad habits probably a week later. I reenlisted twice and did my time honorably. I guess it all boils down to how much they can break you down mentally. I was a pretty average recruit and never drew negative attention. I guess you could say I joined for all the wrong reasons. The financial crisis hit when I joined and I was looking for a steady stream of income and the military was the ticket. my pros and cons were always 4.5/4.5 and I kept myself out of trouble.

Ahhhh... My Beloved Corps!!! In the early '90s we didn't have The Crucible. We helped develop it with The Marine Trail in Boot and The Three Day war in MCT. "HOLLYWOOD MARINES" all the way! The Island is soft and we develop better Rifle Experts on Edson's longer range. "Sand Fleas"? We had "Mt M*****F***er", "Old Skokie", "The Grim Reaper" and "The Ankle Breaker". You had fleas, we had tarantulas and scorpions!!! Just playing, I love all Our Brothers. SFMF!!!
