I think that the problem is the timing, they give the mvp during the playoffs so everybody has in mind what the mvp is doing or has done. They should give those awards as soon as the season ends.

NO, stats do not make somebody the most valuable player. Most valuable goes far beyond stats and while Giannis is an amazing player he is not even close to MVP. LeBrons leadership on and off the court is unmatched, the chemistry he brings to the team is extremely important. He turned a whole franchise around that was in complete shambles. He lead the league in assists, which is huge because it shows how he has evolved his game to make every other person around him better. Honestly it should have been between LeBron and Chris Paul, easily the two most valuable to there teams.

Don't get me wrong, LeBron has been one of the greatest players ever over the past 17 years. He has pretty much achieved it all, but people make it out like he did it all on his own and that's just BS. He has always had help from some of the greatest players the NBA had to offer. Wade and Bosh in Miami, Irving and Love in Cleveland, and now with AD (not to mention Rondo and Howard). It doesn't take away from his achievements, but people should put it into perspective. Durant didn't win it either until he joined up with arguably the best backcourt the NBA has ever seen. Same will go for Giannis.
