The XPeak is the new release from Lectric Bikes. This all-terrain e-bike represents a new style for the popular maker to offer. In our Lectric XPeak review, we will look at this e-bike’s design, it’s motor and battery, as well as the specific component choices that give this e-bike it’s personality.
This all-terrain e-bike comes with 26-in. wheels shod with 4-in.-wide tires. A 750W brushless, geared hub motor provides the muscle, while a 672Wh battery provides the power.
We will take a look at the motor’s performance in our speed test, how well it stops in our braking test, how much ground a rider can cover in our range test, how well it climbs hills as well as its overall ride quality.
Our review of the Lectric XPeak is based on our experience with a prototype; the XPeak isn’t yet shipping to customers and we will include in our review details about the final production changes that the XPeak will receive before they begin selling it. Our prototype is 95 percent there, but they have a few details that will be improved over our sample.
This is a stunningly affordable e-bike and because it has been certified by both UL and ISO, shoppers will enjoy the confidence of knowing this is a quality e-bike.

Agreed! Move the throttle to the left and switch to trigger shifter, also the front light should probably be mounted to the frame and not the fender, looks like it bounces around a lot like that.

I have a step-through XPeak on order for Jan delivery. Unlike some of the critical comments below, I think Lectric came up with the perfect balance of price, capability, range, weight and features. I don't want a bike heavier than 70 Ibs as there are few bike hitches than can carry those and I don't want to be lifting something heavier up and down the racks either. The range is sufficient for me, I don't want or need a bigger and heavier battery. Maybe the brakes can be upgraded, we'll see when I actually get my hands on it. The shifter and throttle could be better, as can the display, but for quite a bit less than $1500, I will settle for those negatives. Would also prefer a torque sensor like my wife's Aventon, but I'm curious to see how this PWR system compares. Finally, they had to pay for all the UL testing which puts my mind at ease on such issues, so I appreciate that. Looking forward to getting this bike, maybe I will have an update when I do! Thanks EBR for all the great info on your review!!

Some reports have pointed out LECTRIC's wording of being tested "TO" UL standards as opposed to actually being certified? It will be interesting to see if the certification is there when the initial prod bike arrives...

I've had a Lectric XP 2.0 and have sold it. This XPeak is overall an incredible package for the price. There are some Chinese brands with comparable price and even a bit cheaper but Lectric isn't far off and their customer service team can actually be reached should problem arises. They were very helpful when I had issues with my XP 2.0. That being said, I don't like that the XPeak is marketed as a mountain bike. It's not. It's way too heavy and even though the new PWR sensor is good, it's no mid drive. This should have been marketed as an upscale all terrain ebike, maybe even an offroad ebike, but not a mountain ebike. There is no way I'm doing drops on something that weighs close to 70lbs. It's going to be a pain to hop around with and if you've ever mountain biked before, you know that the bike is going to land on you eventually, it's inevitable, and no one should want a 70lb bike landing on top of them. Again, this is an incredible value for the components and power. It would be a great all terrain cruiser.

I live in Az and as you know we have some of the most hardcore trails in the country. So yes the rating on the frame and power of the motor are very important. Maybe you can help me decide. Do you feel the xpeak can out-climb and take on rocky terrain better than the aventon adventure 2 ? I do like the range and speed of the adventure 2 but feel the xpeak may outclimb and take more of a beating and might not need more then 15 to miles of range.

@jfly2249 I'll check it out but at first glance I don't think those are comparable to the XPeak, an entry-level eMTB. It's not just a "fat tire ebike". I agree, if that's all you're looking for, there are better options. Personally, I'm excited to hear more about the XPeak as an option for an eMTB under $1500, from an actual USA company with real support and a passionate active online community of riders.

I received my XPeak today. Put it together and took it out. It’s solid. The headlight is secure enough for my (city) riding. I was pleasantly surprised that it fits me better than my XP! Don’t know how, but it does. I will be replacing the seat. Too hard and a bit small for me. I have tried several bikes and know of (friends bikes) several others. For this price, I personally can’t fault Lectric for any perceived/alleged shortcoming. The bike is smooth and quiet. Although I believe less aggressive tires would be better. Yes I know it was designed to be a mountain bike. But for my purposes, a high bred tire would be better. Still, those two items are about I can condemn on the XPeak. I put about 12 miles on it and still had 52.4 volts showing. That with some full time throttle and a bunch of pas 3-4 and a fair amount of pas 5

Pretty good hill climber, especially given its price point. Were I looking for a fat tire adventure bike, I’d definitely consider it, but I don’t like the handling or rolling resistance of fat tires. I like tires between 2.2 and 2.6in for commuting and recreational riding. Just enough cushion to absorb the worst impacts but still feel nimble. As an XPedition owner, part of what you sacrifice for the value price is some quality issues, especially on accessories. I had to sand down brackets for both brake calipers to get good overlap of the pads on the rotors and enlarge a hole in the frame so the grossly misaligned pins on one running board post would engage and lock into the frame. The braze-ons for the battery cradles are also off-center so the batteries are visibly angled off the centerline of the frame, but they still function alright. It’s not as if I’m looking at them while riding, but if the aesthetics of off-center batteries would bother you, know there is a chance this could exist on the unit you receive. I know the unit you tested is pre-production, but the rear rack and headlight/front reflector seem to have some geometry issues. The rear rack is sloped rearwards a bit much and there seems too little space between the headlight and its underslung reflector, forcing the headlight too high and the reflector is forced downwards so far it’s useless. Also, is there a lot of rust on the inboard face of the chainring? I hope Lectric has fixed those issues on the production units.
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! As for the geometry things you pointed out, those are all being worked on for the production line. Lectric sent us a massive amount of minor tweaks they'll be working on and we believe they address all the things you listed. It's not rust, just some of our rad sand and dirt from the Southern Utah desert!

@jfly2249 We quote the watt hours because we feel this makes more sense when compared to a motor's nominal wattage. We ideally hope to see a 1:1 ratio of watt hours to nominal motor wattage. We feel sometimes amp hours can be confusing, or not tell the full story since voltage has to be considered too, which is why we convert to watt hours.
@jfly2249
@jfly2249 6 ай бұрын
@@ElectricBikeReportWatt hours makes more sense of course, just commenting on how hard Lectric is trying to gloss over or rationalize a very small battery. But marketing a hard tail with only 80mm of travel, tiny battery, and horrible no name brakes as an off road beast is a bad joke. Thank you for your objective testing methodology, clearly shows how weak this bike actually performs regardless of the nice things said in the commentary. I really hope they improve the braking performance in this bike. Embarrassingly bad performance. Makes you think they rushed this bike and accepted the first prototype from the bike factory. Bike looks like it was sized for your typical 5’2” Asian consumer. This would have been a great bike three years ago.

"Bikes" that don't conform to one of the 3 classes aren't bicycles, they're motor vehicles.

Great review, I have one on order. My thoughts are, they put a $400 front fork so they could get EMTB certified, but no rear suspension. I think a less expensive front fork and add rear suspension would have been amazing. Next, I am a little concerned about the battery. If the intent is to be able to take this off-road, your going to chew thru the small battery quickly. I really do hope the PWR system will offset power consumption enough to extend the range. Despite that, at this price point, I scooped one up.

Such incredibly disappointing range, only 15 miles at 22.7mph. Real head scratcher why only a 14 ah battery when almost every other competitor is offering at least 20 ah, absolutely cripples this bike. Good front fork, but it’s still a hard tail and there are many full suspension 26x4 that are far more comfortable and capable. If you are riding off road, you are also burning much more battery than on pavement, further crippling the range of this bike. The brake performance was downright dangerous at 24 feet, the best brake in under15 feet. People will die or be seriously injured because of the crappy brake performance of this bike. Not sure what brand they are using, but they aren’t very good, imagine how bad they would perform in a real MTB situation. Bike looks to be small and cramped and not suitable for taller riders. Bad brakes and a tiny battery is really an unforced error by Lectric. No amount of marketing can put lipstick on this pig, but we will see.
