LED Light Bar tare down-circuits inside.

I was given 3 large 12 volt LED light bars,as the have a few LED's that do not work. upon opening one,i discover the every bank of 3 LED's has it's own circuit. Im not sure what the circuit is for,as i cannot see any wave form on my scope across the LED's. So i think it may be some sort of current/voltage limiting circuit. Anyway-enjoy.

is it possible to bypass those inductor since it is dc-dc convertion?

Déjà vu! I swear I saw someone on instructables had posted a question a LONG time ago on how to repair those exact same LED light bars, the circuitry to my memory looks identical, I even remember the pictures he posted showing in random places clusters of 3 LEDs not working at full brightness. I answered that question based on what I thought, which was somewhat similar to what you have figured, except the inductor was not obviously broke, I just said it was likely the buck/boost converter thing that drives the 3-LED series.

It is very likely those are SMD inductors not through-hole. I would advise to check again and save a lot of unnecessary work.

These inductors are in dc-dc converters. In fact the small circuit is just that. Why don;t you try and see if the two wires of the inductor can be accessed? No need to remove the complete board in that case. Unless the new inductor would not fit.

Then he would need a hot air gun, a heat shield, and skill using them, since the solder pads would have to be under the base, as it can be seen that they are not extending out away from the base of the inductor bobbin. However removing the board would not be a big deal, just unsolder the wires with a beefy iron. It'd take longer for the iron to warm up than to do it.

40-42" led light bar, 2 cree xp-g led are not working, I think about unassemble then opened led lighting bar but out of gas why can't waterproof

dc step up converters have that same inductor.2$ from eBay [CHINA]

It's not that simple. Inductors have different inductance and current ratings. It needs to fall within a certain range to work correctly in the circuit. It might have the value marked on it somewhere then a part guaranteed to be correct could be ordered from an electronics supply house like Mouser, Newark, Farnell, Digikey, etc.

Why don't you just replace the inductor? Much less work

wrndlabs That is the plan,but the soldering points for the inductors are on the back of the board,and the wire is broken off right at that joint.

TinManPower can I email you for a little help? Rigid light bar stopped working, problem on the board somewhere. Don't want to wait to send it to them, plus I disassembled it so my warranty is probably void.
