He goes deep. He does just love something, he strives to understand not just the music and the acts, but also what was going on with the acts when they created their music. It's inspiring.

This is an actual real reaction/review, a mans review. Nothing wrong with kids enjoying and reacting to music they are just now hearing. This is not a kids review. This is an intelligent discussion from someone who actually understands the nuances of music. Adults come to this channel. So well done sir

Fair assessment about Bonham. As a drummer for 45 years who has studied under symphonic percussion directors and been a session player for a long time you're absolutely correct. There's no such thing as "the best". Every rock drummer has studied Bonham; if they haven't then they should. Bonham masterfully handled whatever Page and Jones threw at him. He always established a solid foundation according to what was necessary. In my favorite Zeppelin song, the Rain Song he hardly plays. What he plays is perfect for the song. This song, and Bonham's shuffle rhythm he employs is masterful. The groove is so strong yet not just in your face. Keep up the great, thoughtful, and well-rounded reactions.

Something I`ve only recently become aware of is the influence John Bonham had on what eventually appeared on the Albums. He was constantly advising Page, Plant, Jones, on what should and should not be included on the final track. Bonham`s intuitive feel for what would and would not work is one of the most underrated aspects of Led Zeppelin`s success.

There are fans out there who don’t really get the last 2 albums.In my opinion yes they are different. But unmistakably Led Zeppelin. Going in whatever direction that moves them.And that’s why they are different because Jimmy’s constantly searching for new and fresh music to compose. And to quote you, Why??”because they can”” just another reason why they were then and they still are and will forever be the greatest band to ever grace the stage

In Through The Out Door isn't my favorite Zeppelin album, but it's in my top half of favorite Zeppelin albums. Fool in The Rain is in my top ten of favorite Zeppelin songs. It's the first Zeppelin song I heard as a kid and it still holds up. Hell, my mom isn't a Zeppelin fan and she love it. I think that pretty much says it all!

In many groups of the era we may be able to pick out a seeming weak link member. But, for me, with LZ there is no weak link. They are all monster talents in their own areas of expertise. One friend suggest John Paul Jones as the most easily replaceable member. But this man is multi talented. For example, his keyboard work on Kashmir leads the drive to that mountain peak like not many could master or muster in my view.

Agree with what you’re saying...I think when saying he’s the most replaceable is probably true from the context of grasping at straws, which I believe is the point. I recognize I could very well be wrong about that though

Oh, baby Well there's a light in your eye that keeps shining Like a star that can't wait for night I hate to think I been blinded baby Why can't I see you tonight? And the warmth of your smile starts a burning And the thrill of your touch give me fright And I'm shaking so much, really yearning Why don't you show up and make it alright, yeah? It's alright right And if you promised you'd love so completely And you said you would always be true You swore that you never would leave me baby Whatever happened to you? And you thought it was only in movies As you wish all your dreams would come true, hey It ain't the first time believe me baby I'm standing here feeling blue, blue ha! Yes I'm blue Oh, babe Now I will stand in the rain on the corner I watch the people go shuffling downtown Another ten minutes no longer And then I'm turning around, 'round And the clock on the wall's moving slower Oh, my heart it sinks to the ground And the storm that I thought would blow over Clouds the light of the love that I found, found Light of the love that I found Light of the love that I found Oh, that I found Hey, babe, ooh Hand that ticks on the clock Just don't seem to stop When I'm thinking it over Oh, tired of the light I just don't seem to find Have you wait, yeah played Whoa, I see it in my dreams But I just don't seem to be with you, you I gotta get it all, gotta get it all, gotta get it all I've got to get all Ooh now my body is starting to quiver And the palms of my hands getting wet, oh I got no reason to doubt you baby It's all a terrible mess And I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless When I'm breathless I'll run 'til I drop, hey! And the thoughts of a fool's kind of careless I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah Hey, now, oh, oh, oh Light of the love that I found Light of the love that I found Light of the love that I Light of the love that I found Light of the hey, now light of the hey, now Light of the love that I found Light of the love that I found

A variation of the Purdie half-time shuffle which was a drum phrasing originated by Bernard Purdie that can be heard on many recordings including some of the Steely Dan songs he played on. Bonham, however, put his own spin on it and the result is just an incredible groove.

way more than a purdie shuffle, next level complexity
@itsmedrooms6071
@itsmedrooms6071 2 жыл бұрын
@@cbrend22 The genesis of the beat is undeniably the Purdie shuffle, but as I say, Bonham did his own unique thing with it like all great players do. We all have influences, but he totally changed it and made it his own in the process. Jeff Porcaro did the same in the song Rosanna.
@cbrend22
@cbrend22 2 жыл бұрын
@@itsmedrooms6071 the genesis of music is hitting rocks with sticks. Not really relevant. The Purdie shuffle was bread, Bonham’s is deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza. Same foundation, yes. That’s it. But hey, maybe Domino’s will start delivering bread?
@itsmedrooms6071
@itsmedrooms6071 2 жыл бұрын
@@cbrend22 Right, the foundation came from Purdie who Bonham was way into at the time, but he changed it around and did something incredibly unique and creative. It’s relevant to me, to my playing because I’ve studied both styles and I can see the connective tissue. Purdie was incredible in his own right.

It was cool that PJ and Plant got together for Hurricane Katrina because the Bush Administration did next to shit in the beginning. Anyway, I love the Zeppelin version of Fool In The Rain. I'm a PJ fan and, I appreciate the whole idea. But, they are not Jimmy Page, John Bonham or JPJ. Eddie did an okay job singing. And when Robert does it, it's like stereo. Nobody can be Zeppelin, at least that's my take away. Oh, the song PJ was going to do after Fool In The Rain was Thank You. And, The Black Crows singer is Chris Robinson :)

Hey Brother, we need to keep in mind the year this was released, disco was at its height, the band personally was a mess, Paige was in the height of his addiction , Bonhams , was consuming more booze 🥃 than ever , plant n jones were highly frustrated with all of that, they were recording during the day n Paige n Bonham were recording at night. And they still produce this awesome album...
