I'm closer to 70 than 60, and I've been listening to "Kashmir" since it came out in 1975. It's a masterpiece of a song that never gets old. Listening to a performance like this can make my eyes water too, even after so many years.

They had requests for 20 million tickets to this concert, still a world record I believe.

For context, this was 2007, and was the first full length concert performed by Led Zeppelin since 1980, when they disbanded after their drummer John Bonham tragically died. Filling in for John on drums is his son, Jason Bonham! Over the years they reunited a few times for different events, and by their own admission those performances were quite poor by their high standards... when this concert was announced over 20 million people applied to be in the lottery for tickets!! I think the reason you were emotional is that you were reacting to the passage of time... realizing that they still have the same passion and intensity almost 40 years later... It's an impressive and very inspiring thing to witness.

This was the first "official" LZ concert in 27 years. It's probably the last. They nailed it and went out on a high note. If it makes you feel emotional, it should. The drummer is John Bonham's son and had been waiting his whole life for that one show. It makes me cry. Robert hits notes in this that he didn't in the 77 tour. He was really reaching deep to make it special. One last, great moment.

When I look at their live performances through The years from the 60s on to 2007 I felt that their performance recorded at Madison square garden what's the best performance ever then when I watch their 2007 concertI became completely taken away by the fact that they just keep getting better and better

I'm a 60 year old man who listened to them as a teenager every night for a year then owned concert light shows as an adult in the 80's I got to operate my lights for a band in Australia called The Zep Boys I practiced for days then did a week of gigs with them it was awesome. I get emotional every time I hear them.

Led Zep did reunion performances for several times and those never works fine without the original drummer John Bonham (died in 1980, so the band broke up). On this concert, Jason Bonham, the original drummer’s son has joined for the first time. He fought for the pressures because his father is DRUM GOD. Jason’s challenge must have ignited the spirit of the other former members. The result was, As you seen, the whole concert was spectacular and this Kashmir was epic, It blows this 52 year old guys mind too!

This is an excellent performance with Jason Bonham playing drums rather than his father. I believe there were 20 million ticket request for this concert. I think the did a lottery for tickets.I would suggest that you now check out the live performance at Knebworth in 1979. John Bonham (Bonzo) was dead within the next year, and the band quit because they felt they couldn’t continue without him. This Knebworth performance really demonstrates how good Bonzo really was, and Robert’s vocals are great.

You know it's a great song if it moves you to tears the first time you hear it. The first time I heard "Kashmir," it was a bit strange because it was only being used as a background for Puff Daddy (his name at the time) rapping on "Come with Me." Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin played guitar behind Puffy along with a big orchestra. "Kashmir" is an unusually impressive song because the drums are playing in a different time signature from the guitar and keys. The drummer (first John Bonham and his son Jason here) is in standard 4/4 time while Jimmy Page's guitar and John Paul Jones's keyboards are in 3/4 time, like a waltz. Led Zeppelin loved to do these time signature tricks. They also did variations of this on "Black Dog" and "Fool in the Rain," among others. John Bonham was arguably the greatest rock drummer of all time, and his son Jason knows all of his dad's music like the back of his hand. He plays regularly in a band called "Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience."

True story. Was so excited that my first concert was going to be L. Z.. They played in Roanoke, Va. Then took a 2 week break before coming to my area. Bonham flew back home for his time off. In his castle mansion, he tragically, as we all know, passed. Needless to say, my virginal status to experience a live show was kept intact. Some 50 odd years later, it remains the same!

Another version of this song that really gets me is when Jimmy Page and Robert Plant played this on MTV Unledded in 1994; they were up on stage with a full band and an orchestra from Egypt, absolutely amazing! And you're right, these guys are great musicians who keep getting better through the years. Other musicians that kept getting better and better are B.B. King, Paul McCartney and Jeff Beck!

When my son watch this video some years ago, he wondered how these old legends still delivered the magic?

Every now and then, if you’re fortunate, you get to witness human excellence at the highest possible level. Sports, art, music, philosophy, it does not matter. You just witnessed the validation of the 50 year old claim that this band is the greatest rock band of all time prove it. 40+ years after this was first recorded and these old dudes are ripping it apart LIVE. I personally like this version better than the original.

At the time of this concert this song was 30 years old. There is a video of them performing it in, I believe, 1975 when the album "Physical Grafitti" came out. I bought the album then and listening to this it still sounds the same. The only difference being the drummer here is the son of the bands late original drummer, John Bonham died in 1980 and they quit playing. His son Jason does his father proud here. He also plays with Heart on the Kennedy Center Honors Led Zeppelin doing "Stairway to Heaven". Another one you should check out.

May I recommend another song from the Nidarosdomen concert ? Please react to "Through the eyes of a child", or "It happened quite", or "Lucky"... Jason Bonham, the drummer is the son of John Bonham….the original drummer. John passed away from drinking. That was the end of the band. The Pianist is also the bass player and has been teaching music in University for 30 years. Jason, the son used to play dromums in rehearsal since he was 8 years old. He was always considered one of the band.
