LZ used to play No Quarter for 20+ minutes long and there were some good grooves in the middle. There are several versions of this live jam, this one was recorded from soundboard 17 Mar 1975 particularly. See bootleg "Haven't We Met Somewhere Before?"

That moment when you suddenly realize the first three minutes are only Bonham and JPJ jamming... they had such synergy together and you see/hear it in many live performances where they are in their own little world while Page goes off into his creative world. As a trio, they are unmatched to this day.

The bass and drums chug along down below in the growling low end section and the vocals and guitar seem to converse with the way plant imitates the sound of pages guitar. Sometimes they are just conversing or sometimes they are making sensual love.

@@leegarbutt4566Ginger did not suck by any means, but like so many great musicians they didn’t grasp evolution immediately and became protective of their craft and their interpretation of it. Hell, Albert King said Jimi Hendrix couldn’t play the blues. And Hendrix himself did not understand Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelins arguably virtuos music.. So bless Mr Baker for believing in himself, but he was a fantastic drummer no doubt.

@@joeyhuebner10 every blues rock band in the UK was playing Killing Floor . Zeppelin's arrangement of it was in fact far more original than any of the others. It's naive to single out Zeppelin for lifting blues licks. It was their original material that set them apart from the UK blues scene.

@@joeyhuebner10 they did , but it should be pointed out more that they've been scrutinized more closely and unfairly treated by some of the original artists. In some cases they certainly should have asked for permission to use certain things , but there were instances of other bands doing the same thing with less financial success. Willie Dixon didn't sue the Small Faces for the uncredited You Need Love , but sued Zeppelin , whose arrangement was far more original. That's because Small Faces didn't get rich from it. Chuck Berry tried to sue the Beatles for Come Together sounding like You Can't Catch Me , but he didn't sue countless other bands who lifted his licks more directly. It all comes down to lawyers and really has nothing to do with creativity

JPJ leads Led Zep in through this jam, I feel…. Led Zeppelin have been to challenging to grow up every album, and made them true. In their concert, Led Zeppelin sometimes makes to reborn their songs completely. That ’s the reason why I ’ve been L Z ’s fan for a long time. And I also think that if J. Bonham would n’t had died, how have been they continued to create their world next to “In through the out door”? But today, after I heard this jam, I could n’t help to ask why JPJ did n’t leave Led Zeppelin? And now ‘No Quater’ is one of the best song in Led Zeppelin.
