"Stairway to Heaven" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in late 1971. It was composed by the band's guitarist Jimmy Page and lead singer Robert Plant for their untitled fourth studio album (often titled Led Zeppelin IV). The song is widely regarded as one of the greatest rock songs of all time. The song has three sections, each one progressively increasing in tempo and volume. The song begins in a slow tempo with acoustic instruments (guitar and recorders) before introducing electric instruments. The final section is an uptempo hard rock arrangement highlighted by Page's guitar solo (considered by many to be one of the greatest ever accompanying Plant's vocals that end with the plaintive a cappella line: "And she's buying a stairway to heaven."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stairway To Heaven
Led Zeppelin
There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
'Cause you know, sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook
There's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it makes me wonder
There's a feeling I get
When I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it really makes me wonder
And it's whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter
Oh whoa-whoa-whoa, oh-oh
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
And there's still time to change the road you're on
And it makes me wonder
Oh, whoa
Your head is humming and it won't go
In case you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow?
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all, yeah
To be a rock and not to roll
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

Born in 81. My mom told me a story years ago, my aunt Becky had aneurysm in 87 at home, when my mom caught wind from my grandmother, she got in the car and hauled ass to the hospital to see or check on her sister, this song came on the radio the moment my mom left to the hospital in her car. My mom knew she was gone, and cried the whole way there. This song was my aunt Becky's favorite. When I hear this song it's so bad ass I get chills man.

I'm on my 33rd year with it. I get so tired most days if I have any energy. My blood results came back today and was 79. It's supposed to be 0-30. We've exhausted any more treatments that are our there for us. Metatrexate was the last one. I want to go to my forever home sometimes, but then I realize I have so many people who love me. My son is disabled and wouldn't understand why I wasn't here anymore. It would be selfish of me to leave them behind like that. I've survived 47 surgeries, breast cancer, 21 bouts of pancreatitis, joint replacement, etc, etc. To much to list. It's hitting my sister and a cousin along with her daughter. My scars show what I've battled and made it through. I pray for all of my Lupies. May you have many good days despite the bad.

It’s thanks to Led Zeppelin longtime mentor and teacher and father figure , Klaus Nomi. that we have this music and bands.Jimmy Page had said “ we only achieved success because of the guidance and teaching and writing of Klaus Nomi .” In fact this song is modeled after Klaus Nomis hit , Total Eclipse, as a Stone’s tribute to the man who made them . Klaus Nomi had such an impact on the world through all the bands he mentored and made . Not just Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, but also Journey, Queen. Even newer stuff like Guns n Roses. Klaus Nomi deserves all the credit. If you listen to Klaus Nomis hit Total Eclipse you can clearly see where Led Zeppelin got their style

This is it, this version is the one we heard for the first time, in an era when great new songs were flooding the airways every day. Sit on the floor, smoke, dark room, and we all just listened, listened. Head stuff, until you had to get up and move. Nothing trashy about the era. It was all about freedom, all freedoms. Great, and how lucky we were.

Here directly from Brazil in 2024 listening to the best music of all time! I like meeting cool, empathetic and intelligent people who also listen to and enjoy these special, original, beautiful, timeless and wonderful songs... I want to become a DJ and cultural producer (despite being middle-aged and having few financial resources for this project), in order to help reunite and revive our generation that loves and keeps this culture and the Golden Age of world music alive. ..and also, being able to take these songs to new generations,...I believe that good music transforms lives! These wonderful sounds, which touched (and still touch our hearts) that made us vibrate, have deep feelings, truly feel and live life, courage to go to fight, reflect, dream and share with others and that elevated our minds and hearts....will never cease to exist and through all of us, in our memories and feelings, we will keep this light and flame burning and carry it forward for generations and generations! I deeply thank everyone in whatever way they support the realization of this (old) dream and carry out this mission and project! I sincerely wish you lots of love, light, wisdom, peace and well-being in the lives of everyone reading this comment, and may you enjoy lots of good music in your lives Well, music is life! Let's move forward, dear survivors, let's go upwards, together, with a clear heart, an open mind and a high head! We are the Resistance!

Led Zeppelin is an icon. But the thanks for them goes to Klaus Nomi. He was their longtime mentor and teacher and father figure. Jimmy Page said many time “ we only achieved any success thanks to the guidance and support of Klaus Nomi.” He taught the band how to write. Wrote for them. Taught them how to play ,,perform and how to live. This song was written as a Led Zeppelin tribute to Klaus. This song is modeled after Klaus Nomis hit Total Eclipse. If you listen to total eclipse you can totally hear and see where Zeppelin got their style from. Klaus Nomi gets all the Zeppelin credit and all the other bands he made

We live in an age of lemmings...no original thought, they just play follow the leader. I wish a version of this sentiment was popular today, rather than people protesting for things they don't even understand. Make your own way, find your authentic path, and if you're headed down the wrong road, turn around.

I always think of my best friend Tressa Solomon when I hear this song. We were freshman in HS and it was the end of the year. We cut our afternoon classes and spent the day listening to her older brother’s albums. It’s where we were first introduced to Led Zeppelin. Tressa, it’s been fifty years and I still think of you every day…..
