I took my 6yo son to watch the senior open at Saucon Valley many years ago. During the practice round on a very hot day Mr. Trevino handed my son a bottle of iced water from a large barrel at the tee. He then looked at the sweating fans and handed out Gatorade and water to everyone who wanted one. What a class act and fine gentleman.

Lee is 81 years old and he is still teaching people how to play golf. He studied everyone he played with, and took away whatever they did well. Then he went and practiced it. You don't see Nicklaus or Floyd or Irwin giving clinics to anyone, but ole Lee is still loving the game and helping others to love it too.

@@andrefecteau True that not enough people focus on their putting but you'd think I do that too if all you did was watch me at the range. I do most of my putting practice at home on a carpet. I putt over a yardstick to check my stroke then to furniture legs at different distances for variety. I still putt some when I'm practicing at the course, but that's just icing. The groove happens at home.

I went out yesterday after watching your Video and had 36 Stableford points even after not scoring on three holes. Your putting tip also helped . One of the players in our group commented on how well I was putting. I'm an old one legged codger pushing 80 and it was the best game I've played since a heart attack back in August. Here in Sydney it is Freedom day. It was great to be able to go the club after the game and enjoy a few "Schooners of Beer" with some Kiwi All-Black supporters. I myself am a "Skippy" a dinky-die Aussie. Thanks Lee for a great video it's certainly changed the way I now think about Golf. You and Ben Hogan are the best.

Trevino is the most underrated talent we've ever seen on the golf course, and he actually has a good reputation. It's just that he so different from anyone else that's ever played. And it's not a Moe Norman thing either, because he was able to take his talent and win at any level, with anybody, but also understands why everybody else's swing etc..work for THEM. Crazy good.

Underrated???? Not if you followed golf when these guys were on the competitive circuit. One of the fiercest competitors dangerous to everyone, the one "they" had to beat. Thems were the days. Too mechanical for me these days all the romance and flamboyance gone. It wasn't just golf then, it was jovial, fun, entertainment with Lee right there.

My dad didn't play golf but he loved Lee Trevino. He loved watching him and he loved his antics and personality. I think he showed average people that golf was attainable. Got to see him play on the senior tour in Hickory a few years ago and I thought of my dad. Interestingly enough many of these tips have been voiced by my husband while teaching his daughter golf.

I lived in El Paso from 1972 through 1975 and spent short amounts of time around Lee. I lived in Memphis four years and attended the Saint Jude Classic Golf Tournament where Lee was a player/celebrity every year. There is not enough bit space on the worlds computers to relate the enormity of anecdotal commentary Lee exuded during his career. I have no idea how his fellow golfers stood up under the pressure of his amazing personality. The only time I ever saw Lee at a loss for words was when Gerald Ford (Lee's playing partner) hit a hole-in-one in the 1977 Tournament on hole #5. They even erected a granite boulder with a bronze plaque on the T-Box.

Thank you Lee Trevino. The tip about pushing the handle of the putter back was eye-opening to me. How have I gotten this wrong for the past 30 years? I have always tried to do just the opposite. I consider myself a really good putter despite doing it incorrectly. I always worked on the pendulum concept. That made me try to keep the handle in the center and let the club head go back first. I played around this and unbelievable how much better the ball is rolling.

My Dad took me to the Texas Open at Pecan Valley when I was kid. Lee hit his drive out to right hand rough. It landed right in front of me 6 feet away. Lee was cutting up and joking all the way there. He came over to the rope, grabbed and handful of popcorn from the bag I had, said thanks young man, finished his joke, smacked the ball, and handed me a golf ball he had signed earlier and winked at me. He is a hell of a guy and an excellent teacher. I was a huge fan after that and always have been.

I like Lee's great tip about setting up with a slightly closed stance for older golfers. It gets that rear hip out of the way and allows for a bigger turn for those who are less flexible. It also allows u to come from the inside when approaching the ball. Every other fundamental is still the same. Thank u Lee. Your a great enthusiastic player and instructor. This whole video is total gold (if you love golf) and immensely entertaining! I think Lee is having some fun with "Golf My Way" at the 18-minute mark and beyond. LOL. Still, Jack Nicklaus like Lee is a genius and I love both of them! Lee is one of the natural geniuses of my lifetime!

I only saw Lee play once, during the Hawaiian Open decades ago. It was on a practice round so everyone was very loose and he had one of the largest galleries following him. I was so fortunate to see He and Chi Chi Rodriguez play together. I never laughed so much. These guys played off each other, like it a was a comedy act out of Vegas. Only Arnie and Jack had a comparable following, but NO ONE, I mean NO ONE was more entertained than the gallery that followed these 2 goodwill legends of the game.

I got a chance to see Lee and his design team, and ride along (well in the back of the entourage as they inspected the work his team was doing on our new local golf course, a Lee T. design. His insight, humor, and overall presence were amazing. A true great of the game.
